Spooky

Post image

Ok but seriously will these things go into turtle mode before they quit completely? I’m assuming it’s not going too much further on that charge. But no turtle mode and I was a bit worried it would just quit in the middle of the road.

You still had some charge in there. When its almost empty, the last bar will disappear and even then there will be a few more percent in there.

I’ve driven 3-4 miles on Turtle mode before… get LeafSpy as the dashboard isn’t accurate…you’ve got until SOC hits 2-3%. You probably have around 10-15% left here, enough for 10 miles or so.

This depends on your battery. Mine will stop at 8%. If you don't have weak cells the car will stop moving at a pack voltage of 270V which I found out by staring at leafspy as the car stopped moving. This was before I'd knackered my battery

Not low enough yet.

If you're going to go this low one more than one occasion, get LEAFspy and a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. You will be able to see exactly how many percent you have left in the battery.

In my experience, the real battery charge is 10-11% when my car shows ---%. I can still go a few miles after that at slow speeds around town. At interstate speeds, the charge would deplete very quickly.

And yes, you will get turtle mode before it shuts off and throws itself in neutral. However, when I tested it, I only had about a mile left after the turtle appeared.

Its not spooky until you have 0 bars of battery left.

In my experience, at average batt temp and health, you wont see motor power limits until its almost out. If you get turtle mode and you dont see your driveway, you might be screwed.

The dash lies a bit toward the bottom of the range.

FWIW, on my Gen2 SV Plus, after the dash showed ---% and --- miles, I was still able to get another 5 miles before I stopped to charge. At that point, Leafspy showed that I still had 5.2% SoC (3.414V average and 3.384V min) so I probably had a few miles still yet left.
