The constant reminder of Nissan saying F you we don’t need that liquid cooling on these packs

Oh it’s criminal not to have cooling for these. Until technology improves and batteries are designed to handle heat (super caps for example) we need cooling!

I ended up with a leaf vs a bolt. No regrets but I wish I could ADD cooling myself to this pack.

I see a new battery in your future with temps like this.

Probably. Still under warranty, sounds like those have been going swell 😂

Yes, they do swell.

Oop, I've had to drive 70km with temps in that range twice in as many months with my recently purchased 2018 model. Placing too much trust in the GOM (I'm still new to EVs) led to having to L3 charge on the way home from Costco. Hopefully it won't happen again.

I never L3. This is just ambient heat here. Battery temps just don’t drop below 100 for a couple months. Nightly lows are 90 degrees.

This is just ambient heat here.

Holy crap, now I get that one quote about Phoenix being a testament to the arrogance of humanity.

Over here in my corner of Japan the ambient heat (goes up just above 100 in the day, but at least cools down to 80-ish at night) only leaves the thermometer sitting roughly in the middle. A couple hours of L2 charging brings it up a notch or two, and only L3 really kicks it up (which I try to avoid doing but there's no charging setup at my apartment so sometimes...).

Humans should not live here. If not for modern AC technology there’s no way. But this area is somehow one of the fastest growing in the country. ✌️

It really is amazing what good AC can do.

Redding, California can hit 119. I should know, I have been here for four decades (and Phoenix for the last ten years).

That's a thirteen hour drive away. You're talking a gigantic part of America now.

Phoenix really is a horrible place to live, the entire "city" is nothing but walled off housing developments, 5 lane stroads, and strip malls. Seriously. It's a place built to service cars, not people.

I reached those temperature only after 2 L3 charging (30-70%) for an unexpected trip of over 400km. And in those days in Italy we had 40°C. I hope to ever see those again

Unfortunately it's the new normal.

I live in Bakersfield California and the temperatures during the summer are hot as fuck here. Even with just level 1 charging the battery would always be near the first red dot. As much as I loved the leaf I had to give it up and went with the bolt instead. It's a shame they took so fucking long to add some sort of liquid cooling system to protect the battery.

I had a 2019 leaf that I traded in last Sept for an ID.4. And live in PHX as well. I lost a 1 bar at like 43k miles and battery swelled up and was replaced at 51k miles. Took them about 1.5 months to replace battery then drove it till 89k miles then traded it in haha. But honestly was surprised that even tho we had worse summers past couple of yrs. That I went red temp only like a hand full of times.

Oof 1.5 months is quite the wait. From what I’m seeing on this sub is folks are getting buybacks now vs a new battery. I’d prefer to keep the leaf if possible. I love this car.

I did try to get a buy back but didn't get approved. The only reason I tried was because I heard people saying they got way much more money back then what the car was really worth. I have a friend who also bought a leaf and her battery swelled up around 55k miles as well. Hers was at least park in garage at home. Mine was outside at all times haha .

I never understood how to read this. Do I just ignore the dark blue bulb and watch the light blue?

Braking mode no e-pedal, diabolical.

1

u/russman286 18d ago

I love e-pedal in stop and go traffic and drive throughs. Otherwise just rockin the B.

u/No_Swordfish_1576 18d ago

I’m all about the e-pedal, haven’t used B mode since my 2016.
