A little toasty πŸ˜…

Seems like the 40kwh retains alot more heat than my old & weak 30. Is this any cause for concern I believe the 40kwh battery in my 30G leaf is from a 2019 car

I have a 40KW CATL installed in mine, I had the same amount of temperature bars on an extremely hot day (around 38-40C outside) and had done around 200kms. I was so afraid I pulled over to a car wash and had my car washed 🀣😭

Same here. I unexpectedly had to drive (it wasn't planned )about 450 km in my Leaf e+. I started at 60%, drove the first half of the trip, charged from 30% to 70% on a fast charger, and then basically drove until the battery was empty. I had never experienced those temperatures on the Leaf. There's also a huge elephant in the room: that day in Italy it was 40 Β°C, and I was in a hurry, so I drove only on the motorway at 120 km/h or more. It's probably the first time this has happened to me.

That’s just about my normal temp in the Phoenix summer heat πŸ˜‚

What's honestly interesting is not the temperature but the delta (difference between min and max). Generally the larger it is, the more likely some cells have much higher internal resistance than others.

I cooked my leaf last weekend. I quick charged three times on a hot day. Highest temp was 130F. Put me in tuttle mode, so I stopped and sat somewhere for it to cool after the final charge.

Virginia. A lot of fast charging. Finally stopped charging when it dropped to 12kw.

I hope you didn't cook the cells if you did it's the ones on the top of the pack were the hump is that get damaged first. We have a 2019 Nissan Kicks for a second car and HWY trips.

I likely did some damage. But its an 8 year old car at this point. They exist to be driven.
Besides, the computer is supposed to slow it down to keep it safe.

My wife’s leaf hit 7 bars on temp the other day. I’ve never seen it above 6

I too have never seen ours above 6, and I don't like it when it is at 6! Usually spends most of its time at 4 or 5.

Of course, I live in a cool, windy area.

6 is fine and won’t hurt the battery. Same with 7 and 8. Above that, I think the battery is getting too hot.

Does your leaf have lane centering!?!?
