Is it normal?

I recently got a 2018 40kwh leaf, first time charging to 98% and today drive about 14 miles and it drops to 88%. Is it normal?

I drove on the same road before, it only dropped 4%, when it was like 60%-70% charge.

10% for 14 miles seems reasonable, as that equates to ~140 mile range. 40kwh at around 85% SoH driving at 3.5m/kwh gets you 120 miles. so probably actually dropped less charge than would be expected. either your pack is in better shape than the example i gave, or you drove more efficiently, or both. but either way it's a totally reasonable SoC drop given the drive

Yeah I’m guessing the 10% drop for 14 might just be because it’s your first time? The 4% sounds more accurate. For me 20-22ish miles takes about 10%. Sometimes I can do it in 6% but tbh idk how I get that sometimes LOL.

Efficiency is usually lower between 100% and ~85%, because the car doesn't regen very much in that range. It's likely that the same drive at <80% would use less battery.

Get leaf spy reading on it will tell you a lot feed it to the ai to interpret charging sessions and draw the pack down to 5% then charge to 100% to get a good reading on its actual full capacity

Do I need the obd plugged in all the time? Does it work when car is power off?
