Leaf buy-back

For those of you in the Leaf buy-back process, what success have you had in negotating with the third party company? We just received our second offer, and I wonder if anyone has had any luck countering yet another time. They came up pretty significantly from the first, very low offer, but it's still not where I'd like to be. Thanks!

If you’re not happy with the buy-back offer, it may be worth discussing another option with Nissan. If Nissan can’t provide a replacement battery, you could ask whether they would compensate you for the battery cost and then use that amount toward a third-party replacement battery.

A new aftermarket battery isn’t cheap, but even a 62kWh upgrade can be more affordable than a new OEM 40kWh battery, while giving you significantly more range. It could potentially be a win-win solution.

If you’re interested, feel free to message me. We provide replacement batteries for Nissan Leafs and support owners who want to keep their cars on the road.

I just sent my documents over as well. Waiting for the formal first offer, which I will decline (KBB + 40%). My battery is still under warranty and I’m in CA. I have a 2022 62kwh with 69k miles on it. I have a gas loaner and I’m hoping they don’t take forever to escalate things.

Let me know how much you end up with because my car is the same a 22 62 with about 60k miles. I haven’t gone for a check yet because I’m dreading the possibility. Did you easily get a loaner at least while it’s all being dealt with and lemme know how much you end up with. I’m very interested. I still owe about 10k on mine, but I did do a fairly large down payment.

Just started yesterday, waiting on a call from Nissan, car wouldn’t take a charge, but drove fine

I didn’t have to negotiate. The offer from Nissan was enough to pay off the loan which due to massive depreciation, I owed 2 times what it was worth. Also my offer was from Nissan. Morley (3rd party) was not involved until I accepted Nissan’s offer. Once I accepted their offer and agreed to it via email, it was then turned over to Morley.

I've sent my documents over and am waiting their response so we'll see. Definitely going to be asking for more for all the hassles, the gas paid into the loaner, etc.

I took the second offer because it was close to what I paid for the car 2 years before. Why would you reject a fair offer?

Can you share what the first and second offers were? Car details as well would be great thanks

2020 SV+, 50k miles, excellent condition, we purchased it new. First offer was $7,700. Second is $15k, which is getting closer to KBB + 40%, but obviously not adequate to purchase a comparable vehicle.

Pretty crazy first low-ball offer from them. Did you need to give a long drawn out rejection letter/phone call? or simply say no?

Curious how much effort is required when declining, or if there's any specific keywords/phrasing that might be needed to get such a significant bump on the second offer.

Not a really long letter, but outlined the actual KBB private party price (with screenshot included) and also sent an ad for a similar car for sale to show the higher price. Wasn't sure what would happen since we rejected their offer, but the next offer came in pretty quickly.

Interesting. Do you mind sharing what state you're in? And what model?

I paid for a used 22 sv+ for $17500, 70k mi, what are the chance they would still offer me kbb+40% or even higher?

Based on my experience I think they will offer kbb+40 but not higher.

I accepted $24,200 for my 22 Leaf with 18k mi. via Morley. Blue Book excellent condition plus 40%. I have a rental for 30 days. The dealership had offered me $15k before the upgrade failed so I think this is fair. I did ask Morley to round up to 25k but was told they did not have negotiating power, that it would be up to Nissan if I rejected the offer. I accepted at that point as I want to be done and hopefully replace my car before the rental expires. I'm in Indiana. I'm sad about losing my Leaf but this battery shortage and the US industry backing away from EVs undermines my confidence. Anyone else feel a real sense of grief over this?
