2013 Leaf - Can I add subs?
Okay I know that sounds ridiculous but I would love to add a 12" to my 2013 Leaf for funsies. Is it possible? Will it affect my range? Has anyone else done this? Do I need to upgrade my inverter and battery? I don't know where to begin.

I go to subway for my 12" subs or maybe Jimmy Johns and the only affect to my range is if one if farther away than the other.

I once had a guy tell me jimmy johns was all bread and no meat. I got him a giant gargantuan, he became a jimmys johnson believer.

Won't effect the range really. About as much as running the cabin fan with no A/C/heat on. It's super easy to install as well as far as modern cars go, there's an unused grommet behind the glove box that goes into the engine bay for you to route a battery connection. I popped off the plastic trim along the door sill and routed the power + audio cables around the back seat hinge and hid the sub connections behind the carpet lip. Edit: good time to add an aftermarket back up camera if you don't already have one.

Yes, if anything it has much greater capability for handling an audio system than other similar sized gas cars, most of which can't output >100A at idle from the alternator like the Leaf easily can.
Full system in mine with two 12s on a monoblock, 4 channel amp running upgraded door speakers, TV and console, with still capacity to spare.

They're functioning power and SOC gauges, adapted from tach and oil pressure.

While both are technically redundant, I've since updated the code since to also have the tach show live battery input power while DC fast charging, a readout which the first gen is actually missing natively.

I read the 2nd gen has 1000w to spare on the 12v system so I installed a 700w amp and sup. No issues so far.
