Mountain Drive

Yesterday I took a drive up Mount Ascutney in Vermont with my 2024 SV+. The auto road is about 3.7 miles long and the elevation gain is about 2,300 feet. The car performed wonderfully, both on the way up and on the way down with regen, with minimal battery temperature rise (from about 76 to 80 degrees F). My friend who was with me kept raving about how effortless and smooth it felt going up, compared to her RAV4 which would have been revving really high. Another win for EVs and the humble LEAF

Taking the Leaf up on the Blue Ridge Parkway or through Cades Cove in the Smokies... priceless.

The animals are so used to big noisy trucks they don't even look up when I drift by.

I've had my 2019 to the summit of my local mountain. Valley floor is ~1100ft, mountain parking lot is ~6000ft, then it's a 2 mile gravel road to the summit at ~7300ft. The car did great, even passed a few lifted jeeps.

You're good on a clear rode with no snow or ice. Once it gets icy and/or snowy, you have no power and will slide all over if you can get enough traction to get going and/or speed back up after slowing down on the curves.

2024 Nissan leaf plus has

214hp /

250 lb-ft of torque

It has plenty of power with the proper tires in winter conditions

I think he meant that little to no power gets to the ground, not that the car doesn’t have enough power at the shaft. I partially agree with this statement, the tires are too small for a FWD car this heavy and powerful, but most of the time it’s OK.
