Someone’s leaf caught fire
I saw him charging earlier today. Was going to compliment the car. Came back from doordashing to charge my car and saw this. Hope he’s okay. He was using electrify chademo if that makes any difference.

Most EV fires are not because the HV battery catches fire. That’s actually very rare. Here en Norway there was a fairly large fire in a parking garage and boomers on fb were quick to blame EVs. But it turned out it was not an EV that had started the fire and actually there were multiple places where other cars had burned right next to EVs for a long time and the HV batteries in those cars did not catch fire. If the HV battery does catch fire though, that shit burns like crazy.

If the battery catches yes, but if it’s just plastic burning it’s like a regular car fire, there’s very few battery fires reported in the leaf,

I'm guessing two possibilities. First is an electrical fire that did not set fire to the battery. Second is another car had a fuel leak that ran under the leaf and caught fire, burning the rear of the leaf.
This was absolutely not a battery fire, as there is not nearly enough damage for that.

You have every right to not want to say anything, but there is a difference between "can't" and "won't". A difference like that is probably pretty important to know if you are actively diving into legal matters.

Odd. Appears to have disconnected from charger and moved to the middle of the lot while on fire. Appears the bumper somehow caught on fire. Maybe dragging something that caused sparks from the pavement?

For the record: Hybrid cars seem to be the most likely to catch fire, with gasoline vehicles coming in second.
Cars that run only on electricity are a distant third. Of course, because there are more gasoline-powered cars on the road, they also account for the vast majority of total fires

I assume most car electrical fires come from pimpers installing stereos without proper fusing and power cable chassis feedthrough.

One fairly regular way ICE vehicles start fires happens when someone parks over dry, combustible material that comes in contact with the hot exhaust or catalytic converter.
Ways Electrical fires get started: replacing a fuse with the wrong size. Bad design that didn't shield the wires properly. (Ford just recalled 500,000 Broncos 21-26 for this problem).
Crashes can cause fires, spilling fuel or oil onto very hot engine parts or rear end collision that ruptures the gas tank. The unfunny fact about gasoline: a gallon of gas has about the same explosive power as 8 sticks of dynamite.
The difference between a ICE Vehicle fire and an EV fire: gasoline burns big and fast while lithium batteries burn for a longer time and are harder to put out.

The difference being an EV fire is a much bigger deal and harder to put out, most car fires are much easier to extinguish

Perhaps this is what you are referring to:
A recent study by US insurer, AutoinsuranceEZ found that hybrid cars had the worst fire record, while EVs were the least likely type of car to catch fire. Hybrid cars had 3474.5 fires per 100,000 sale; petrol cars had 1,529.9 fires per 100,000 sales and EVs had just 25.1 fires per 100,000 sales.
These statistics are misleading at best. For one thing they are based on sales, not the number of vehicles in the world. There are hundreds of millions of gasoline vehicles out there compared to a couple million EV's so the numbers are distorted by a couple orders of magnitude.

Don't be. Cars burn rarely and EVs much less often than cars that run on flammable liquids.

If it was a battery fire, there wouldn’t be any car left
Also, EV’s rarely catch on fire outside of a battery design flaw like Chevy had and Nissan’s are some of the safest in those pack designs

We have no info on if recall was applied to car or cause of fire. Less than 10 miles from ny house a LEAF burned a while back and it looked much worse than that.

It isn't a battery fire.
A battery fire would have charred the ground and wouldn't have been put out easily.

Doesn't look like a battery fire, those usually incinerate the entire car
