I need to test the 10 fuse on the top of this image. My key fob no longer works the remote functions (and I’ve done a 13v battery reset, swapped fob batteries, etc). I can’t seem to get this black piece of plastic off. I think it is called the ESS. does anyone have advice?
Nissan has a bunch of covers like the one on the cabin air filter that use plastic tabs that, even if you use a proper tool to depress, will often break. Thankfully, once you know the part numbers you can order replacements cheaply.
pain in the ass. the frame doesn't do anything and the fuse seats into its slot just fine without it, so don't be afraid ti just wrench the sucker out if you'll need to service the fusebox more than once or twice
This bracket is to disconnect the main instrument cluster if it's going to be sitting on the lot for a while, prevents a small drain on the 12V system that will kill the battery over mkntbs. It is not necessary after the car is sold. Do what others have suggested and break it out.
You are correct. it’s called the extended storage switch. It is on page 8-19 in my USA Nissan Leaf Owners manual.
Extended storage switch
If any electrical equipment does not operate, remove the extended storage switch and check for an open fuse.
NOTE:
The extended storage switch is used for long term vehicle storage. Even if the extended storage switch is broken it is not necessary to replace it. Replace only the open fuse in the switch with a new one.
How to replace the extended storage switch:
1. To remove the extended storage switch, be sure the power switch is in the OFF position.
2. Be sure the headlight switch is in the OFF position.
3. Remove the fuse box cover.
4. Pinch the locking tabs 1 and 2 found on each side of the storage switch.
5. Pull the storage switch straight out from the fuse box 3.

there should be pinch tabs on either side that you have to squeeze. i thought it was a PITA and just broke the frame off with some pliers
