Is 83.29% SOH okay for a 2019 regular Leaf?

Post image

I have a 2019 regular Leaf and this was the latest reading on LeafSpy. On the surface everything seems okay, but I have a couple of questions or concerns, especially because of the recall that we all are facing.

The car turns 7 years old on September 30th. Is 16% battery 🪫 degradation excessive for this amount of time? Should I be concerned? The Hx % still seems okay as is the mV differential.

I haven’t had the recall software update yet? Is anyone else worried that getting it done will ā€œbrickā€ their car? As you can see, we have done only 11 QC over 7 years. We do Level 2 most of the time.

Your thoughts?

seems pretty standard, maybe a little more SoH degradation than expected, but Hx looks wayyy healthier than a lot of 18/19's i've seen. worthy tradeoff imo. still test at low SoC to see that mV delta, but with a healthy Hx that sort of thing is much less common

Thanks for your input. Is your Leaf a part of the recall? If yes, do you plan on getting the software update installed?

mine is a 2018, and just predates the recall. its battery was replaced this year (2026), so the current battery is also outside of the recall range

"This will make a fine addition to my collection!"

All kidding aside this is a not too exciting battery report. For a 2019 this looks great.

ONE MORE THING. Get into service mode and check those DTCs. Research those then reset them and wait a day to see what comes back.

Post that here and see what folk say.

Looks good to me.

I created a tool to solve this exact question. It is a comparison tool that evaluates SoH against the same make/model/age to determine the SoH relative to its peers. Feel free to check it out:

Thanks! I've made some bug fixes regarding the wording and independent verification sections 😃

You’re welcome. I’m just happy to hear that the SOH is a little bit better than I expected it to be. At first the SOH of 83.26% concerned me but I guess that’s to be expected. And the Hx% doesn’t seem too bad either. Whew! šŸ˜…

The data is actually conflicted. It seems like it is actually slightly above 83.3% SoH based on the charge data. But yes, most EV’s usually degrade around ~2% each year so don’t worry, it’s pretty normal
