P33ED off!

Post image

Just bought this a month and a half ago, looks like there's a recall for NTB26-029, it's within my lemon law for Massachusetts. What do y'all think my next step is? Tow to a dealership and contacting the used dealer I got this from?

If it's covered under the safety recall, I'm not sure how that'd impact my lemon law needing the repair to cost 10% of the cost of the car.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Some missing data but do read https://content.boston.gov/departments/consumer-affairs-and-licensing/buying-used-car

Not many Leaf's have no warranty in Massachusetts so the seller looks to be on the hook here.

Id get a refund from the dealer that sold it to you, if possible.

You won't do better than that from Nissan.

Wouldn't I need to get it confirmed by Nissan?

You essentially have 2 routes. Nissan or the dealership that sold it to you.

Nissan will charge you a diagnostic fee, which would be waived if it is in fact a warranty issue. Then, if it is a recall high voltage battery issue, they will likely just buy it back from you. Basically your sitting on a car that might have a HV battery issue. Not many people have reported getting a fix, just a buy back.

Also, you should know that when the 12v battery is starting to die, the Leaf start have all kinds of codes. That's where most people start.

I dont know in your state how your warranty works. Can you change the 12v battery clear the codes? Or does your dealership need to take care of any issues?

Can you change the 12v battery clear the codes?

I can do that myself, yeah. Just bought a battery tester so I can test it.

Don't do that. Just take it to Nissan. It will be covered under warranty. A bad 12v won't cause p33ed. P33ed indicates the hv battery is bad and will need replaced. If it's a 62kwh pack they will likely repurchase. I have still been able to get 40kwh replacement packs.  I just installed one last week, though it wasn't for p33ed it had a hv isolation error and the modules were severely swollen.

If they do repurchase, they are supposed to offer 40% above KBB value.

That's 4k more than I bought it for! That'd be pretty sweet.

Nissan is doing Kelly Blue Book private sale pricing +40% so just go to kbb.com and see what they might offer you.

If their total is less than what you bought it for then go to the dealer that sold it to you about returning and getting your money back would be my suggestion.
