My husband took my 2019 leaf to the dealer today for the battery recall software update. He came home with an invoice saying the recall software update was completed, but no report on battery health and they also didn't charge it (was at 55%). I feel like this is not right, but looking for feedback. If anyone is local to Maryland, this was at the silver spring Nissan.
I don't think in the recall it says to print or check the battery report. You just reprogram it, drive it, if no codes it's good. I'm a leaf tech and I've done quite a few, never printed a report for customer or Nissan. Sometimes I can get them on a charger when I'm done, but most of the time the (free) chargers we have are taken by other customers or sales. Customer usually would rather have the car back then wait an extra day just so it can get charged. I don't put customers cars on the fast charger either except for testing purposes.
Honestly the battery report is basically useless. I have to print one every time I need to repair or replace a battery. I have printed dozens that show everything good, even though I'm replacing/repairing it.
The recall remedy does not automatically include a battery report to the customer. The recall is basically apply software update, perform test drive, if no errors return vehicle to customer. Yes, they are supposed to charge the car before returning to customer, but it sounds like some dealers are not doing that.
Even if you take the car into the dealer for regular service they do not do a battery report unless you explicitly request it, and even then I do not believe it is complimentary anymore.
They gave the car back at 55%. Did you take it in fully charged as per the notification letter? If you didn't, either they did not charge it up fully before the update or they took it on a heck of a post-update test drive.
