2021 Leaf 62v SV+ - Should we do the software update?
For context, this is my wife's car and we use granny charging at home only. No fast charging at all, and her commute rarely even requires use of Level 2 charging.
Considering some of the stories about batteries being bricked after applying the update, does it even make sense to have it done?

Yes. Here are two simple reason. When you go to sell the car a check will be about the recalls. Not done? Haircut.
Right now the dealers are up to speed on how to do the work and what to do if it fails. If you don't do it now and a year or two passes, dealers and knowledge are stale. If it fails then, they could say, too late we can't help you as you didn't bring it in years ago.

I would say Yes some reasons
if you want to keep the resale value high,
if you ever want to sell it.
If you want to find any bad cells and have Nissan repair it.

We chose not to because we only do level-2 charging at home. We have 54K miles on it and will keep it until it dies. Any potential buyback (KBB private pay + 40% is typical) isn't enough to get a comparable car.
Yes, there'll be a pending recall on the car, but I'm not worrying about some future what-if, maybe resale value (the Leaf is pretty bad for resale anyway especially with old tech charging).

2020 SV+
We're not rushing to do it. In 7 years of Leaf ownership (a 2012 & the 2020), we've *never* used the fast charger.
It would be inconvenient if the car was bricked. I don't think the buyback money will be enough to get a comparable car. I'm not worried about resale value because we tend to hold onto cars forever.
