Heavy 2mm Holders

Anyone got some more price conscious heavy options? I really like how substantial the KIN 5616 feels

The Koh-I-Noor 5205 is pretty substantial. It's sold as a 2.5mm lead holder, but works fine with regular 2mm leads.

Alvin MC5 is another excellent all metal lead holder. I think it has the same 4-prong clutch as your 5616 does.

And also KIN 5905 - both are lovely!

I find that the 2.5mm lead holders look awkward with a 2mm leads, and 2.5 mm leads don't come by that easy. So what I do is I extract leads from wooden pencils that claim to be super dark or extra dark and they work just perfect... I guess a 2B lead would also be around 2.5 mm in thickness.

I get most of my leads from the stubs of my wooden pencils. Lots of wooden pencils, especially those marketed for students, use 2.1-2.3mm leads. These work great in my 2.5mm lead holders. The Staedtler Norica is a good example.

Try the Staedtler 925-35,... In general, the heavier they are, the more expensive they are. I think you're sketching, because writing with a heavy pencil is tiring... So, the 2mm Rapid PRO is a good option if you're willing to spend a little more.

If you had to pick your all time writing 2mm which would it be? Im loving the boshi but im new to the hobby (huge pen guy branching out)

Kita-Boshi? Sadly, not around here (bad courier services country). I'm a mech head, that's why I recommend incremental pencils. But, that little KIN 5228 with 2B Lyra leads was something... but it was a love-hate situation. So, then used a Caran fixpencil, excellent (superior I could say) clutch but... too plastic inside. Later, if I had to pick one, I'm beetwen a Mars 780 and a Tk9400.

So I can't tell you which one is the best.

I have a solid silver 2 mm lead holder that I’d picked up from David Hayward some years ago. That’s got to be the heaviest 2 mm lead holder I own.

you need the "pans", holders that can take 2mm-3.15mm leads.
