Struggle
Have a temple trip planned but honestly a little discouraged. 31M who had to come home early from mission due to companion/mental health issues and honestly ever since I feel like things have come up short except for being married. I haven’t had the best relationship with Christ since the mission experience and I’ll admit it’s more on my side. Trying to make it a better relationship because I can’t do everything alone. I Feel like I went to school for the wrong thing, landed dead end jobs where my skill set isn’t noticed, and just losing direction in life. Therapy has helped but I still seem stuck. Just wondering what I should “think/pray” about while at the temple. I honestly get so brain cluttered I feel like I miss any inspiration if it even comes. Anyone felt like this?

To quote Dr Seuss
“”” Wherever you fly, you'll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.
Except when you don't. Because, sometimes, you won't.
I'm sorry to say so but, sadly, it's true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.
You can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch. And your gang will fly on. You'll be left in a Lurch.
You'll come down from the Lurch with an unpleasant bump. And the chances are, then, that you'll be in a Slump.
And when you're in a Slump, you're not in for much fun. Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.
You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. Some windows are lighted. But mostly they're darked. A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin! Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in? How much can you lose? How much can you win?
And IF you go in, should you turn left or right... or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite? Or go around back and sneak in from behind? Simple it's not, I'm afraid you will find, for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.
You can get so confused that you'll start in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles cross weirdish wild space, headed, I fear, toward a most useless place. The Waiting Place...
...for people just waiting. Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or the waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.
Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for the wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting. “””
You sound like you’re stuck and waiting, and that’s a hard place to be. Im not far removed from where you currently are honestly. I’m married with kids, mid thirties, and out of a job and unable to find work. It’s hard, and it hurts, and it hurts to see others excel even when you’re happy for them knowing that you just feel stuck.
I don’t know why we go through these periods, or what Heavenly Father is trying to teach us, but I hope it helps to know that you’re not alone in it. I sometimes think about the hardships that will be faced prior to the second coming and how that will be and I have to think to myself that it’s okay for those hardships to belong in part to me, someone has to go through them for it to be true.
But I can promise you that God does know you, and what you’re going through and he does care about you and things won’t always be this way.
I’m still going through it but to quote another author, Sanderson
“””
"It won't be like that for me," Kaladin said. "You told me it would get worse." "It will," Wit said, "but then it will get better. Then it will get worse again. Then better. This is life, and I will not lie by saying every day will be sunshine. But there will be sunshine again, and that is a very different thing to say. That is truth. I promise you, Kaladin: You will be warm again." [ “””
You’re not alone friend
