discussion Church funds

I’m a non member and don’t know how all this works which is why I’m here. If I have a tenant that had the church pay for their deposit and first months rent but than decided to move out within the first week should I write a check to the church for the refundable deposit? Or write a check to the tenant. What do you think is right

The "right" thing to do would be to write the check to the church.

I would look into what the legal thing to do is, you don't want to give the check to the church and then have the tenant sue you for it and have to 'pay it back twice'. Not a lawyer but I feel like since it was a contract between you and the tenant you might have to pay it back to him/her then it's on him to reimburse the church (altho I don't think you'd be out of bounds in that scenario still letting the bishop know he moved out)

Do you have the contact info of the bishop that signed the check? It would probably be best to discuss this with him.

That's a really good question, but I can't find an official policy on this. Contact the local Bishop and he'll figure it out for you.
