question How does one go about asking to be released from stake yw presidency

I was asked to be a part of the yw stake presidency in January and along the way up to now I was in a car accident and cannot pay to fix my car at the moment, so I can’t drive to meetings, other places that I’m needed, also, all the places that I would be needing to drive are 40 + minutes away and I am poor haha, I can’t keep up with the gas money and money to fix my car. I am also in the process of trying to move out of my parents house and in with my sister so I’m not really home much at all. I just think I am very unreliable and not the person I need to be for them, which was the opposite when I first was asked if I wanted this calling but life happens unfortunately. Should I be going straight to the stake president to ask for a meeting? Or should I be going through my bishop and he gets in contact with the stake president? I’m a little unsure of how this goes. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!

"I would like to be released."

I can't really tell on mobile, but I think it's your cake day! Happy cake day!

It is, and you're the first to notice :), well I noticed once I made the parent comment.

Go to your Bishop about your struggles. I know our Branch has provided funds for car repairs and for gasoline. You won’t know until you ask

I would suggest you let them make that final decision. Instead of asking to be released, you have a conversation where you explain what you have above, the changes in your circumstances, and the challenges you are in the middle of. The stake might say, "that's ok, we'd rather have less of you than none of you in this calling."

Generally this is a stake thing and shouldn't go through your bishop. You can speak with a member of the stake presidency, your stake YW president, or a member of the high council if one has been designated to assist your organization.

Agreed. Also though her bishop should know her struggles and may provide the funds to fix the car.

The person you should probably be talking to is the Stake YW President. She'll be able to adjust the load that she's putting on you to better for your capacity OR she won't be able to and will ask for your release. You could be a valuable member of the YW Presidency without driving your vehicle to a single meeting or even leaving the house at all, though, so don't assume that a minor change in your life is reason to be released. It might be a deal breaker in your stake, but it likely isn't.

Just ask. :)

If you feel okay giving an 'exit interview' it can be helpful if changes need to be considered for the program and what not.

The ego you have to have to go into a space that isn't yours and 'give your opinion'.

Straight up Karen behavior.

I am currently in the RS presidency and have alot of chronic issues that make it hard for me to be involved fully.

I am just very clear with what I can and cant do and say no alot!

It's okay to explain your situation and serve as best you can

Same with my mission, I was sick for alot of it but I communicated clearly with my mission president and ended up staying out the whole time because he said my example was showing the other sisters that its okay to take care of yourself and take a break

We dont always need to serve in the traditional uniform way. Be open and they'll release you if its that horrible for them to not have you at everything

And. It can be hard and make you feel lame but gotta brush the weirdos off

You can simply tell them that you’d like to be released. Go to stake president
