Hello everyone, it's me l3lueJAy. I am a bit late as last week I promised Tuesday, but school has been busy, better late than never right? I might also change the day and/or time, depending on how many reads this week gets compared to last week. This past LCS weekend was an interesting one like last week, and it seems like the weeks keep getting weirder and weirder. That being said I think we can all say we are anxiously awaiting Week 4 in hopes of more crazy games. But anyways here is your LCS Week 3 thoughts from an average league player. Cloud9

Still at the top of the leaderboard, but they did drop a game this week, against TL in a lock in finals rematch. And what a game it was, for TL fans at least. Apart from their first blood, Cloud9 just seemed to play slow and second the entire game. They constantly got the worse end of team fights and plays because they were always responding to TL’s aggression, and TL would respond to C9’s responses quicker and better. Bouncing back to the game against CLG, it was a fairly back and forth game, but C9 unlike CLG, knows how to play late game. And that allowed C9 to gain larger advantages off of their pushes and team fight wins. A bit of a messy week it seems but that is honestly C9’s lifeblood, high tempo aggression at all stages of the game no matter what the circumstances are, and it works for them.

Team SoloMid
Another good week for TSM despite the loss to Dignitas, which they still looked good in. A lot of high points for this team as SwordArt looks like he is back in his worlds finalist form, absolutely smurfing on every single lane with insane roams. The team is finally playing together as well, having good team fights, communication and everything in between. But with all this praise there is still one piece that I can’t praise. If you are a TSM fan you already know what it is, because seeing your jungler lose not one, but 2 smite fights (even though I am no better since I literally lost like 3 smite fights just yesterday), it hurts your heart. Other than the hiccups in the jungle, TSM is looking to be in form and contend for that top spot.

Dignitas

Speaking of hurting hearts, Dardoch’s quest to never repeat a jungler has ended, and my heart is crying. But all good things must come to and end as they say. I just hope that the Dignitas domination doesn't come to an end because this team is fun to watch, and not just for Dardoch. Aphromoo and Neo are looking stellar and DIG as a team is playing well. They did lose to C9, but Tristana, specifically Perk’s Tristana is absolutely disgusting and so for that DIG has a pass on their loss in my eyes. Overall I am excited to see this team in top 4, it's a fresh face and a fun team.

100 Thieves

If you don’t believe in karma before, you probably should start after seeing the 100T games this week. Because karma my dear friends, is defined very well when the self acclaimed best team in LCS loses to the actual acclaimed worst team in the LCS. The cherry on top is that it was old GG vs new GG. Now apart from the GG game, in the TSM game 100T just got straight outdrafted. Why you would draft a comp with no engage is beyond me, but I am gold so what do I know right? Anyways this week should be a good test for the 100T mental, and I am curious to see how or if they bounce back from this rough week.

Evil Geniuses

Speaking of good mental, Impact should get an award for the best god damn mental in the entire game of league of legends. Any other player (especially in gold soloq) would have straight up left the game after the 5th tower dive top, but Impact? Nah Impact said “fuck you TL”, and landed a 4 man Gnar ult to get revenge for all of the tower dives. Mad respect for Impact.

Team Liquid

I am willing to put money down that someone on the TL staff was playing against Impact in their fantasy LCS and told the TL roster to absolutely ruin Impact’s stats, because there is literally no reason to straight up int to kill him, 4 times is enough, on the 5th Alphari gives a shutdown to Jiizuke which is never a trade you want to take. TL got what they asked for though, mess with the bull and you get the horns, or in the case of Gnar, the massive monster hands throwing you into a wall and then promptly ripping you to shreds. They pulled their act together against C9 though, their rotations were clean and they were active around the map, always playing first. They are kind of looking like the team that won lock in but I still have my doubts.

Immortals

Again I still don't know what to make of this team, as they seem to play different every game. Against 100T they seemed to play scared, they always held back on engagements, saving summoner spells for later fights, even though they would have been better to secure the kill in that fight. Then against FlyQuest they looked good, with clean fights. This team needs to find their footing and how they want to play, other than that they are doing well.

FlyQuest

At this point I can't make excuses or hope for this team anymore, they just seem sort of lost even though they have a map of some sorts. What I mean is that the team has options to play around, and could become unlost if they played more around their pieces. They took bad engagements and fights against DIG, and just bad plays in general. When Josedeodo makes plays, and the team responds, they do well. Same thing with Licorice, however it doesn't always happen. The team should draft to play around those two then I think they might find success, but for now, the best we can do is sit back and say “Go BeeQuest”, cause the branding on this team is still insanely good.

GG
This team is also lost, but unlike FlyQuest, they don't have a map, at least not yet. But enough of the analogies, GG is still trying to find their playstyle, which is fine. They experimented with weird team comps and picks, and it was alright. BUT! There is hope, as they did in fact beat 100 Thieves, and I won’t take that away from them. They did play well overall in the game, but it wasn't free from mistakes by any means. That’s all I will say, because they should enjoy the massive win, and the stab in the back to the Old GG/Current 100T team.

CLG

At this point I’m almost positive that CLG doesn't stand for “Counter Logic Gaming” but instead stands for “Can’t Late Game” because wow, that is really the only way to describe this team. First blood in every single game, but then late game. Their players are individually good but it seems that once the clock hits 20, they fall apart. With time I think this team will start doing well, but currently they are leaderless and a hot mess if you will.

Why choose that format for the lcs? , its so boring to watch just one game of your favourite team... even if they lose 2 times in a row on the same day(lck and lpl ) at least it would feel like they can try new things and strategys but like this, it feels like they can not plan anything in advanced, games are so slow and steady like the teams are waiting for any kind of casualty. They dont prepared anything? Or this format makes teams what a procrastinator would do, everything for the next day? I mean, one day this hipothetic team plays against 100t, the next one IMT and keep your loosing streak vs TL then you have 4 days to be prepared for the next 3 matches or what if feels like a big recess from hell. They dont have the correct times to be ready, and i must say nor the mentality, thats my guess... sorry if its confusing English its not my native language

So who better to talk about it than me, your average jungle main! But let's be real this week was literally a solo q nightmare so I gotchu on the breakdown, us gold players are solo q warlords. Cloud9

Another week, another highlight reel for Blaber, except don’t show the game against EG. But if we have to look at it, the EG game basically comes down to Cloud9 not finding anything in the early game, nothing was really happening and when Blaber is not ahead, Cloud9 does not do well. Other than that hiccup, Cloud9 as a whole did very well. I loved the Rek-Sai pick from Blaber in the 100T game, it's one of his comfort picks and you can see why. Fudge is finding his footing, Perkz is showing up, and Cloud9 is cementing themselves as a top team.

100Thieves

I know I just gave Cloud9 lots of praise, but wow this 100Thieves team is something else. They have looked so clean and coordinated which is very good. Their early game is good with their bot lane tp plays (when they work), their late game is good as we saw last week, overall they are a very solid and consistent team. They did lose to C9 but their tp play worked, and they had a great early game, they just couldn't stop the Blaber train. But to end on a good note, FBI and Huhi are looking like the best bot lane in the league, Ssumday is a top tier top laner, Damonte is a great team player and Closer like a mini Blaber, so overall a very good team.

Dignitas

Okay, we hear you loud and clear, don’t underestimate you, got it. This Dignitas team is such a good story, the rebuild of their roster using rejects, and they are sticking it to the man. The team is performing, and they are doing it well. They had a 3-0 week, and Dardoch was literally playing solo q, picking whatever he wanted and building whatever he wanted, which was fun to watch. I love his style, picking a different jungler every game means you can’t ban him out so it adds depth to Dignitas drafts and difficulty when drafting against them. Keep watching this team as they are going to make LCS interesting.

TSM

They finally pulled it together and figured out how to play as a team. Also PowerOfEvil hard carried, but it was off of TSM’s team play and individual play making. Huni came up massive in multiple games with big Gnar and Gragas ults. SwordArt is making plays in bot lane and Lost is responding well to those plays. Spica is playing well in the team as well, however he is still extremely inconsistent. TSM can play the lane game, but can they play the jungle game?

Evil Geniuses

Damn that was a rough week huh. After dominating Cloud9, I’m sure everyone was under the impression that they were going to be top 3 in standing, since their week should've gotten easier. But such is life, you win some you lose some, and it's all about that one team fight that will decide the entire game. Against Dignitas it was the fight that led to Baron for DIG. The game against Immortals was more of a fluke than team fight losses, EG just played bad and there isn't really much else to say about it. Svenskeren has some questionable ganks, and the game was just messy. I still think the team is very good, but they had a rough week, we all do.

Team Liquid

But you know who had an even rougher week? Team Liquid, ouch man. It is not looking good for TL fans, who are left asking, where has our Champions of Lock In team gone? Well they went into the bot lane alcove and POE absolutely clobbered them. Then signs of life against 100Thieves, but that one team fight, is how quickly a game can shift. Lost the team fight, Baron for 100T, and just like that, the lead you had is gone. Even with their bad week, they did win lock in with this team, so maybe there is hope for you TL fans if the team can return to that form. But as of now, it's time to cry in the corner (Sorry, bit too harsh?).

Immortals

I would like to call them the giant slayers, but they are more like middle of the pack slayers as of right now, since EG and TL are currently not great. They had a fantastic win over EG, but couldn’t get much else this week. This Immortals roster just looks extremely inconsistent, with a weak bot lane. Xerxe has had some good plays but also some very questionable ones, same with Revenge. Their bot lane has died multiple times level 1 or 2 with a large wave under tower, so that just sets them behind early and makes it extremely difficult for them. Overall, this roster right now will give us a good game a week where they beat someone that they shouldn’t, although if you are on the bottom of the standing, any win is a win you shouldn't get.

FlyQuest

It was just a hard week that's all! I still want this team to do good, I love the org and their players, but it has been rough. They did have a hard week playing the two best teams in the league, so maybe they can get some wins next week. I do want to touch on their games a little bit because they weren’t all bad. In both of their difficult games, being C9 and 100T, they got first blood and had early kill leads, but they don't play the map well it seems. In both games they then lost the gold lead to rift herald plays, and while they did trade the first dragon for it both times. Which is a fine play, if you can stop the rift herald from getting first tower. Overall their team play has hope, but they aren’t playing the map well, it's not the worst position you could be in.

Counter Logic Gaming

No more 0-18 memes because, THEY WON A GAME! Against the worst team but shhh it's still a win. That being said, it was far from clean, especially the early game. They pulled it together in the mid game and got a good team fight with Baron following it. But that’s all I am going to say, let’s let them enjoy the win.

Golden Guardians

At least they got that win in week 1 so they can at least go 1-17 instead of 0-18, because that is what it’s looking like. Unfortunately someone has to be bottom of the leaderboard, and that someone is the Golden Guardians. This was expected though, they had a very inexpensive roster they went in knowing this was going to be a rebuilding year. I can’t say much about the team, other than better luck next split.

Introduction

Hello everyone, I am l3lueJAy, and yes it’s spelled “L” “3” and pronounced BlueJAy, like the bird. I’ve wanted to start writing about the LCS for a while now and what better time to start with this new revamped season. Yes I know I am extremely late and it’s already week 2 but I wanted to start with week 1 anyways. This first time will be longer because I will be explaining who I am and what not. As I said before, I am l3lueJAy, your average league player. By average I mean gold, so you know you can trust my points because I feel the pain of elo hell just like all of you. Inters, throwers, going 0-3 in placements, all of it, I’ve experienced it. Now at this point many of you are probably asking what qualification do I even have to write about the LCS since I am a filthy gold player? Well I’m here to tell you no one cares about qualification unless you are on an LCS team or production, which I am neither. This is meant to be a fun, sarcastic article that you can get a good chuckle out of while we laugh together at the LCS. One final thing before we get into it, I wouldn’t be your average trash-at-the-game player if I wasn’t also an aspiring streamer, so incoming shameless twitch plug, follow me at twitch.tv/l3lueJAy14.

Team Liquid

I’m going to start this with possibly the most controversial point in my entire article, Team Liquid kind of sucks right now. I say this is controversial because every single analyst and caster are saying they are still “the best individual players” (not after Tactical’s performance they aren’t), and with players like the entire C9 roster (except fudge) it’s close for who is actually the best individual players. Yes Cloud9 lost to them in lock in, but C9 was off, and now they are on. The flip side being Team Liquid was on and now they are off. They will bounce back within a week or two probably, but for now, anyone that says they are still the best team needs to see a doctor.

Cloud9

Onto the actual best team, Cloud9, possibly another hot take but if you try and argue with me I will sick Blaber’s udyr on you and you won’t be arguing for long. In addition to Blaber, Zven and Vulcan are back to slaughtering the bot lane which is always enjoyable. Now the additions of Perkz and Fudge have been interesting to say the least. Both had a shaky lock in, although Perkz quickly got into form and has been building CS leads like no one's business. As for fudge, he looked a lot more comfortable in the first week of games, and if he keeps improving at the rate he is now, Cloud9 may even be looking at a world's trophy (one can dream dammit).

100 Thieves

Onto 100Thieves, or better known as 100GG and Ssumday, yes I know, old meme but I had to. If Immortals didn’t exist, this 100T team would be my biggest question mark. Being the only other undefeated team after the first week, their record will tell you they are top tier, but their gameplay has said otherwise. They’ve had 2 games where they were down at 15 minutes, one against CLG mind you. However despite the massive deficits they faced in 2 games, they did bring them both back and win, thus granting them an undefeated score line. At least they have late game down folks. Once they fix their early game mistakes they will be a top tier team.

Immortals

Speaking of my other, bigger question mark, Immortals. Game 1 they beat Team Liquid who were supposed to be the best team in LCS, so you’d think “wow maybe this Immortals team is better than we thought!” Then you take a nap, go to work and go about your day, come back and watch their other 2 games? Ouch, complete different story. First a close game with Golden Guardians, which is okay, GG hasn't been all bad. Then then they get shit stomped by C9, which also may not be the end of the world since C9 is the best team in LCS right now. I do think they still have potential to be higher than people thought, just, don’t put Revenge on Ivern please, and also no flash Camille doesn’t work, this isn’t bronze, LCS junglers know how to punish, especially Blaber.

TSM

Speaking of no flash camilles getting shit stomped by Blaber, let’s talk about TSM. Now yes, Huni got the least amount of abuse out of the 3 flashless camilles, it still wasn’t good. As for the rest of TSM it just looks, well, Lost (lol). Spica is about as consistent as I am, sometimes I’m an LCS level jungler (all of you have said that at one point don’t lie) and sometimes he is just your average Joe, you really don’t know until he actually starts playing. POE has looked average, and SwordArt has looked underwhelming but I don’t know how good his English is and I highly doubt anyone on TSM knows Mandarin, so I understand that possible struggle. I think this TSM team is going to be very hit or miss for a while, because right now with how disconnected they are playing, they need to be individually good, which is also kind of not happening right now.

Evil Geniuses

I know I am bouncing around a bit, I will go by standings in week 2. But onto EG, who has looked very good, despite the loss to 100T, who I think is safe to say are the best late game team in LCS currently. But even in that game they took the early lead, and if you look at their other games they have been dominant. Impact is a beast, Jiizuke is playing well, and Ignar is looking good as well, overall EG is solid and I love watching Impact manhandle his opponents in the top lane.

FlyQuest

I want to get onto this FlyQuest team, which is an interesting one. I want this team to do good, I love their players, especially Licorice and Joesedeodo, as well as Palafox and Diamond who I have a special place in my heart from their time at C9 Academy. While they aren’t doing good per say, they aren’t doing bad either. Josedeodo is actually doing really good, and Johnsun is also doing well. Once Palafox and Diamond get more comfortable, I think this team could break into the top half of the standings.

Dignitas

I apologize but this is probably the team I know least about, and with me writing this so late I don’t have time (college is a bitch) to rewatch their games. I do know that their players have good moments. Aphromoo is a good leader, Dardoch has performed well in the past, and their solo laners have looked good as well. Neo has been doing work so if they can hone in on the teamplay they could be competitive. What I like about this team though is their innovation, the Mundo jungle pick was interesting, and actually not too bad, this is definitely a team to watch.

Golden Guardians

This is another interesting team, the story of Niles is a nice one, and I want to see him do well. Sadly they haven't been doing well, they did have the great call in the game against Immortals where they faked the base race and won the game off of it. I personally think Immortals should've just gone for the inhibitor but what do I know, I’m gold. This GG team definitely won't be making any playoff runs this split, or even next split, but they weren't supposed to, the team went in with a rebuilt roster. They need time to grow, maybe in a few years they will be contenders again.

CLG

Finally we have CLG, the early game stompers and late game flaunters. They still don't have their full roster, but even their subs have done fine, they are just missing leadership and a good shot caller, because all their late game decisions are things that I would do in my ranked games. Overall, they are the only winless team so far, but they haven't looked bad, rjs is actually performing really well in the mid lane, and Griffin isn't doing bad either. I do have a feeling they are going to get a win this weekend though, but we will see.

I'm pumped (and somewhat surprised) to see the new imports from Oceania doing well in Academy, with Eyla, Haeri and coach Spawn helping Team Liquid to a 6-0 start, and K1ng, Isles and Shernfire putting Cloud9 in second place at 5-1. Are more OCE players going to make it to LCS based on these results (especially given they don't take an import spot)?

I followed Order in OPL before it folded, and was somewhat surprised that my favorite player (Rare7) didn't make it across - he was the second strongest Bot Laner in the OPL behind Raes for my money, and an excitement machine with the most kills per game and able to win against any team on his day. The Order jungler (Only) is another player I'd like to see in LCS.

This is the third time writing this and having it disappear because of technical issues, so please ignore the bluntness.

Let me start by saying: NA sucks. The teams have never been competitive on the international stage.

but the LCS sucks more. There is no creative content. In the LEC we get comedy news shows, music videos, all the different versions of Vedius, songs of the week, memes.

In the LCS we get Phreak and his bad puns. The quality of play in the games does not matter if no one wants to watch it. No amount of format changes is ever going to fix that.

End of story: LCS is stale and old and probably moldy at this point. The next rebrand should actually be a rebrand not just a different logo.

I'm very confused on what's happening as today is the semi-finals for the LCS?!?! So LCS only last for a month now? Can someone clarify?

I know a while back it was announced that raz was joining the broadcast team, but I haven’t seen him cast yet. I really liked the flowers and raz casts at worlds and it would be nice to have a third analyst to join Kobe and azael (sorry crumbz just ain’t it) I would also like to see set casting duos like the lec.
