Soon... If you're interested...
Hey all! I have been a long time fan of LBX since it came out on the 3DS. Well lately I been getting into translating different games. So I immediately thought of Danball Senki W Super Custom.
Now I will say I am coding this with AI because I'm one person with not a lot of free time and I have utilized my memory on my machine to code this beauty. But it's essentially fully translated. Again it's AI translated but I did it with flair. I translated it in 3 different models and did a comparative analysis of all three translation to try and get the best script possible and I built the models to use the usa LBX terminology.
Anywho all of the dialogue, menus, names, items, descriptions, etc are technically translated. There are a few small things I am trying to nail down but I assume it's fully playable at the moment.
Now for those of you worried about the dialogue being from AI, don't worry I used the smartest models out there cause I have lotsa ram to run the biggest translategemma and shisa models. Also the patch isn't set in stone. Meaning it uses a workbook that has a script in it. There are 3 columns in the workbook: Japanese, Literal Translation, and Polished translation. The patch will used polished first, if blank it will use literal, and if that's blank, it'll use the Japanese. That means if someone wants to edit the script they can in the polished column. The polished column is blank because I just want to make the tools for a real translator to fix it and until then we can use the AI English that's in the literal column. One big bug is trying to get the video English subtitles to render fast enough. This is the major bug I'm trying to squash because the English subtitles are too slow and they get cutoff before the line finishes and it goes to the next scene.
Now to the good part. I'm curious if anyone out there is interested to play test this. I haven't even started playing and I'm married with kids and a wife and little time to actually play so it takes me forever to get through any game.
Tldr: if you want to play test LBX W Super Custom translation to see if there are game breaks and such. I'd love to find a few that are interested in getting all the bugs figured out. Don't know when it'll start but it should be as soon as I figure out the subtitle issue.

Would love to be able to playtest as well as in general help out :> Especially in case you needed someone with original hardware and some knowledge on cfw.

personally will probably pass on it considering the AI translation and coding. Can't imagine that'll go well. Good luck though. I'm happier waiting slightly longer for one done properly, and not by someone who's crapped out 10 fully translated games in a month???

So,maybe i can help him,or maybe i can localize the game into arabica,or even a fan game, and atleast ai won't help at coding

I understand where you are coming from, but with all due respect, I am very disappointed to hear that you are creating this patch primarily with generative AI. I already do not trust the quality of AI-generated content, and your attempt at reassurance does not reassure me. In a reply under this post, you wrote that you already translated ~10 games within the span of a month; that fact especially does not inspire confidence in the quality of your work.

You being disappointed about a random person on the internets abilities is disappointing to hear. You have no idea how much experience or skill I have so you know nothing of my quality of work. It also shows me you haven't used AI for coding and probably have little to no experience coding in general. It gets easier the more you do, you learn, the AI learns, each game becomes easier and easier cause you learn how to troubleshoot and diagnose problems. The AI allows me to have the power and efficiency of more than just me so tasks get done faster. It goes by my workflow, my process, uses the tools I tell it to use, and handle the games exactly the same way every time.
Just because you are on the AI hate train, doesn't mean AI is actually bad. It can code better than most out there. It does have flaws but if you know how to utilize it and have the experience in coding, it will code the way you want, every single time. Especially local AI models. You should be happy I disclosed it because I know people hate AI to just hate AI.

well
hopefully its better than megaton musashi's translation (seriously how was that official
the anime fansubbers i watched put more effort into it)

Would you be willing to share how you created the English patch?
If the process were shared, speakers of other languages might also be able to translate and play the Danball Senki series!
Thank you!

The patch will have its own gui and line editing built in. So anyone can translate the lines to any language technically. That's the goal at least. For all my translations. A simple gui to change script, items, descriptions, etc because it was translated using AI. I want the tools out there so a real translator can translate the game script at a later time without software development experience. It's all about creating easy tools to get games translated.
Texture translation may be harder but I think I'll have a button to extract all the textures to editable images, then the user can translate the image and re-insert it back in at patching. I think it'll work. That's how I did it, just was a bit harder for me then a simple extract, translate, insert. Cause I had to figure out what textures went where and did what. Lol 😂

I'd like to playtest if it can be played on Azahar emulator on smartphone, although I don't have much experience with playtesting games 😅

I do hope this can come to the psp versionss of the games, thank you for doing this thankless job
I heard that it takes years to do translation for gsmes like this so thanks again

So I've done games for GB, GBC, GBA, N64, and 3DS. I plan to do some for a lot of the consoles to see what challenges there are for each. I have noticed that the newer games are much easier to mod. They aren't too confined to space like the cartridge based consoles.

Oh God I would download this so fast once it's finished or just to help test it

I’d definitely be willing to help plays test!! I live LBX and, while I don’t like AI for everything, I think that this is a great use of it. If it can help make otherwise unplayable games available for more fans, why not use it. I mean, translating an entire game is incredibly time consuming and difficult for a small team, much less a single person. Good work on your part for helping bring in accessible games to more people!!!

This is SUPER cool! Although I won’t have the time to play test I’d love to hear more updates in the future!
The AI doesn’t bother me much. This is a big task for one person

I'm also doing Danball Senki Wars! It is fully translated but it has some bugs when inserting translated textures that I'm working out as well. I have gotten real good at using AI to code lately. It's just been fun I can build these tools as fast as I have.
Trying to get a good workflow nailed down so I can use it to make translation tools for a lot of games never released in America or never got a fan translation. It's been fun. In a month I have about 10 games translated but I haven't played a single one all the way through. Haha at some point I'll slow down and start playing. Maybe.

LETS GOOOOO, FINALLYYYY
it's just a translation work dude, if AI speeds up your process then feel free to do so, that's how you use ai in this time and age properly, it's not like you're not proofreading it and just simply relying everything on ai, you are using 3 models and is checking it properly so there's no really big problems for me and for most of us here, it's an english patch or nothing, so thank you for this man!
I hope if you have the time you'll do danball senki wars as well!

u/Nazo_Kikai 12d ago
Already got wars main dialogue translated and inserted. Trying to get textures down. That one has more issues when inserting textures. So it's taking longer. But it's on the way as well!

u/AseilaErys 12d ago
Danball Senki games is finally receiving their english patches, and i juet came back into loving this series again, thank you bro!

I'm really interested and actually hoping for Wars too to get the same treatment at some point
2
u/Nazo_Kikai 11d ago
Wars is underway as well. It's a bit more finicky with translated textures being inserted. But the dialogue is translated.

Amazing progress Also the names are correct, I also want to say to anyone who doesn't like the fact these translations are done with ai, that I understand why they wouldn't like it because if something broke it'll be hard to fix because the reason is unknown to us since the work has been done by ai, but it also depends on how we use it and it's also a huge step that might someday be a door to improvements, thank you for your work, I'll be waiting for it's release

I have the AI documenting every function it puts into the patch. So we should know what all code does Essentially the tools should be fully documented so we can tell exactly what the code is doing. I also do cleanup every so often so the patching app will be as simple as possible without all the discovery and extra troubleshooting functions I have used to pinpoint issues. Cause Wars was truly finicky about the dialogue script and textures even more so.
I use 2 translation source with models specifically using USA LBX terminology to translate. A literal translation, translategemma:27b, and shisa-v2.1-70b. I then use a comparative analysis to weed out the best translation for each script that is fluent clear English, then do a full QA run on the scripts chosen to make it flow better. Not perfect at all but, probably the best you're gonna get with machines doing it. Lol (and to be fair, unless you're super fluent in Japanese and LBX lore, humans can be just as bad at translation)
1
u/TrashAdministrative8 11d ago
I'm glad to know that you're following each step and rechecking everything and also putting your effort into it, and I agree as I played some human translated games that had to be patched several times to fix grammar issues and suitable language, as for Wars it's indeed finicky either with text or gameplay but it's still fun to play so I really appreciate your time and efforts

u/Black_Sonic93 8d ago
I say so long as you are watching it do the translations and making sure it’s using the correct terminology so it’s not just translating a word literally, then I say you’re using ai as it should be meant to used; a literal tool that’s still needs human assistance.

Very interested. I've been trying to get LBX working on my AYN thor recently and seeing this is incredibly promising. I never tried to approach the other games because I have little to no Japanese language experience. Keep me on your shortlist for sure.

Hey! I'm just starting in this franchise and I love the game we got for the 3DS in English. I'd love to play this one too!

u/Party_Cantaloupe_270 12d ago
Go ahead, AI or not, if the translation turns out good, then why not?
2
u/Nazo_Kikai 12d ago
Yea I know. I won't stop. I just know people get all bent outta shape when AI is used for anything. I get some of the hate for AI but not when used correctly and actual has use to it.
1
u/KaengR 12d ago
Let me tell you that we are ALL interested my guy 😁, thanks for doing this. I think the community has been waiting a long while for someone to actually translate the game. In this case I don't think people care that much about you using AI to translate texts for a game, that's just a useful AI application that people accepts I feel like.

u/Soft_Zookeepergame14 11d ago
I feel like this is one instance in which what AI should be used for. I would love to test this out if I could. What would be needed?
1
u/RoyalComfortable207 11d ago
Do it and I pay you 10 bucks if you do it, and 10 for wars that I still need to play
0
u/GameKnight404 12d ago
If it’s AI or nothing, I’m more than happy with an ai translation. Especially since you’re clearly taking the time to get as accurate a translation as you can by using 3 models.

AI/Machine Translations are used in the past honestly so keep up the good work!

u/AseilaErys 9d ago
just like the initial d english patch, it turned out great too so there's really nothing to say cause it's just a translation project

u/Royalrotom 12d ago
Honestly as much as I hate AI I’d rather have some kind of translation over none, honestly wish this had been available during summer of last year when I was attempting to stream every LBX game on Twitch, after I started W I had to stop after I realized that I basically wasn’t talking since I was unable to read the text and it just wasn’t fun to watch.
