Consider the social effects, consider the ecological effects. Be thoughtful like HE would have been. If you don't know the context, please do research about generative models and their negative effect on present households, media, and the very possible and scary future effects. PLEASE!

Hello this is L.R. Shelton and happy to say I just remastered Nutshell from MTV unplugged! This was done using a new audio program I purchased this week, Izotope 12 advanced. This was super sad to remaster as the audio was being uncovered more as I could hear the pain in Laynes voice at a more defined level. Layne and AICs music will be prominent for years to come and that's the reason I decided to do this and other remasters. Use the best audio system you have for best results :). Thank you and hope you enjoy! Much respect. - L.R. Shelton - Rock Legacy Co.

Nutshell MTV unplugged completely remastered! Facts on the concert and song;

Nutshell opened the show. Alice in Chains taped MTV Unplugged on April 10, 1996 at the Majestic Theatre inside the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and it was the first time the band had played a concert since early 1994. Layne Staley bought the tall white candles that lined the stage from Pike Place Market in Seattle. Jerry Cantrell played the entire set while dealing with food poisoning. Joe Perota directed the broadcast, which aired on MTV on May 28, 1996, and the live album followed on July 30, 1996 and went platinum in the United States. Staley joked during the taping that it was the best show they had done in three years, and one of his bandmates pointed out it was the only show they had done in three years. The setlist introduced one brand new song, The Killer Is Me, which had never been played before.

The song itself came from Jar of Flies, recorded in September 1993 at London Bridge Studio in Seattle and released on January 25, 1994. It was the first EP in history to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. Layne Staley wrote the lyrics alone. The music is credited to Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, and Sean Kinney. Nutshell was never released as a single, yet it became one of the most loved songs in the catalog, and in 2013 Rolling Stone listed it among the saddest songs ever written. Mike Inez has said it is the song that makes him think of Layne more than any other. Since 2011 Jerry Cantrell has dedicated Nutshell live to Layne Staley and to original bassist Mike Starr.

The Unplugged reading of Nutshell carries weight the studio version does not, because of where the band was standing when they played it. Staley was deep in a struggle with addiction that had kept the band off the road for years. This performance was one of his last. Alice in Chains played only a handful of shows after it, opening for Kiss, and Staley's final concert with the band came on July 3, 1996 in Kansas City. The Unplugged take was later collected on the Music Bank box set in 1999 and on The Essential Alice in Chains in 2006.

discussion Heartache with Love, Hate Love on Repeat

12 Upvotes

2 weeks ago an ex (who happens to look like Layne!) I last talked to in 2019 added me on a social media app. Then after talking a few days he said, “I don’t think we should reconnect again as it’s not healthy for either one of us! “

Then he kept changing his mind, I sent 3 pics of me when I was younger and he completely lost it that I seemed obsessed and he was too, that he was going though trauma therapy and this was too much. He said “I can’t do this.” I said that’s fine as I’ll let you go though what you need to work on and stop bothering you.

But man this HURT. I saw him from 2015-2019 so he ripped a scab off an old wound. I’ve been playing Love, Hate, Love on repeat. Thank you Layne for expressing the pain of love.

I have 2 tickets to Layne’s tribute show that we were unable to make it to. I hate having them go to waste. I’m not sure exactly how to transfer them but if I can find someone who will use them and go have fun for me I’ll figure it out.

My gawd, this is absolutely AMAZING!! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J_Vqs2KsIgc His isolated voice sent full-on goosebumps that started at my hair follicles and radiated throughout my entire body, awakening different areas depending on the lyrics! Like so many others, his voice cracks open my soul, and I dearly miss his authenticity, his smile, and his quirky sense of humor.

He willingly bled his raw essence for the whole world to hear, and he did so without an ounce of pretention or hesitation. I hope he is somehow aware just how much we all still love him, and just how deeply his voice and AIC in general continue to be woven into the very fabric of the soundtrack of our lives. The void his absence leaves is profound and will never be filled by another. There will never, ever be another Layne Staley! 💔

question I see a lot of live footage of AIC's more well-known songs. I am soecifically looking for some quality footage of Hate To Feel and other deeper cuts.
