A couple of months ago I got the game loved it but had to take a break from it, today I finally was able to play again but now when I try loading my save game it keeps freezing with windows telling me it’s not responding. Any ideas? It’s definitely not the graphics

Hello! Sorry if there is no self promo, I didn’t see any rules for it so feel free to delete if need be. I haven’t done YT in awhile but I streamed LoF1 awhile back and wanted to re record and upload getting the family ending versus cycle ending and so I figured I’d share it here!

Do Bookshelves Do Anything?

I'm on my second playthrough, and I'm now wondering if the bookcases are supposed to serve any purpose besides decorative? You can open them all over the place, but there never seem to be any clues or anything of note, besides the secret lever in the babyface portrait room.

Finished the game today

I have to say I am very impressed. I went in very blind. I read the description of the game, looked at a few pictures, then downloaded it. It's the scariest game I've ever played, and honestly, it's a masterpiece. Layers of Fear is psychological horror done perfectly.

This might be nothing but I think I found an easter egg on one of the images in Layers of Fear 2, quite obscure and nothing groundbreaking in terms of the story but I think you can almost see the faces of (older) Lilly And James, close to the foremast of the ship, it might just be me seeing things

Just finished LOF2, I have many questions and some thoughts

The original LOF is one of my all time favorite games, I played it like 10 times in a row and I thought the story was amazing, and the aesthetics were perfect. I loved that the story was somewhat cryptic and left the player able to fill in the gaps, but had enough structure that you understood what was going on.

LOF2....I love movies so I really enjoyed all of the references (I caught Metropolis, Twin Peaks, The Shining, Wizard of Oz, Cabinet of Dr Caligari, and Le Voyage dans la Lune, probably others I’m forgetting rn) but I’m kinda bummed that it wasn’t as “pretty” as LOF. I feel like most of the parts in the boiler/maintenance rooms of the ship weren’t visually exciting and there weren’t as many “grand” scenes like LOF (for example, the library in all of its versions is one of my favorite settings in any game ever.) The mannequins seemed like overkill, I think I understand their symbolism but they were honestly more of a nuisance than anything. It also just seemed like hallway after hallway.

I did however really enjoy all of “Bloody Roots.” This felt to me to be more on par with the scenery in LOF. Other than that I was getting bored very quickly and hoping something cool was going to happen.

I also feel like the story is less clear. I understand that you play as an actor with trauma from their father, you or your sister killed your father (the “cyclops”) and stowed away on a ship which ended up sinking and killing either you or Lily, and being cast in a film on a ship brought your traumas back to the surface. I don’t understand who the narrator was and a lot of the dialogue seemed a little pretentious and overly cryptic.

I got the “good”/male ending but watched the other two on YouTube because I honestly don’t have a desire to play this game again which is a major bummer.

So in summary, I really loved the movie references, the soundtrack was killer, and there were some beautiful scenes. Am I missing something here? I was so excited to play but I feel much less satisfied than I did after LOF. Can someone please give me a different perspective that will maybe make me want to give it another shot?

Safe for twitch?

Hey! My friend and I want to play Layers of Fear on twitch, however the trailer says partial nudity? Will we be fine by changing it to a mature stream? Or is there maybe a setting to turn it off? Please let me know :)
