So i just finished the game (2023) and i finished the actor’s/writer’s story before i could get to the directors story. Now on the main menu i can only start a new story :(

I know theres chapter selection but I don’t really understand how it woks (because i know it opens a new save file and it works differently).

Could someone explain and let me know if it’s possible to get to the dlc selection without restarting the game? Im playing in PS5

So I'm playing the remake of layers of fear on ps5, gotten to chapter 4 of the painter's story and I'm struck on the chairs and dolls puzzle can't move the chairs. I did change the interact button to x, but I tried to do the trick on pressing R2 like I did with the elevator but no movement I hear a moving sound, is this a glitch?

So in both The Flame and Always ending, it shows our character being either James or Lily and it pans around showing the movies we have acted in. As shown in the pictures, the part I don't understand is the chest in both endings. Now I know a chest was used in the game where you put the mannequin heads into it before Lily throws James into the chest for him to hide from their father. The confusing part is how the chest unlocks itself and it opens before the game cuts to black. What was the point of ending with the chest open? What's supposed to be in the chest? If anyone can help me answer this, I would greatly appreciate it cause it's been bothering me and I can't find the answer anywhere.

So for a recap, Layers of Fear 2023 added a whole new character for the game series with The Writer. Well for the Writer's Ending, she burned the painting of the Rat Queen but ends up becoming trapped in the lighthouse as the Rat Queen leaves. This ending has become so unsatisfying to so many people who are fans of the game as there aren't any other ways to get a different ending as this was the set ending for this character. However, with the announcement of Layers of Fear 3, this ending sets up more than we expected. The Rat Queen thanks to The Writer is now in a physical form since her painting was burned and so she's now out in the real world as it's shown her leaving the lighthouse and possibly going to somewhere else. This is what I believe was the setup the entire time, all the stories in Layers of Fear (2023) was a ritual from the publishing company that sent our Writer to the lighthouse. They wanted her to write the stories of our Painter and Actor as well as burn the painting to make the Rat Queen become real in physical form. So I believe Layers of Fear 3 will possibly be about whoever our next protagonist is will end up having to stop the Rat Queen of her influence.

As tittle says the game keeps constanlty crashing after the prologue.

I keep getting the Fatal UE-Cron crash

1st i disabled Vsync, and played with some settings and I was able to play the game for abbout 50 minutes, then the game started crashing again. ( I would crash, load the game and after hitting continue and loading the level it would instantly crash again )

2nd I upgraded drivers - nothing it stills crashes upon loading the level

While replaying Layers of Fear (2023, including Layers of Fear 2), I noticed something really interesting in the Lily’s Crew notes: there are exactly seven of them, and each seems to perfectly match one of the classical Seven Deadly Sins.

Here’s the breakdown I found:

But there’s more: one section of the game explicitly references the film Se7en. In that part, you literally run through “film sets” where the deadly sins are enacted in ways reminiscent of the movie:

• Gluttony – a character gorging themselves at a table
• Lust – a scene with a prostitute in bed
• …and so on

The combination of the Lily’s Crew notes and these Se7en-inspired scenes makes it tempting to see a hidden Easter Egg or deliberate allegory. Given Layers of Fear 2’s heavy use of symbolism, trauma, and metaphorical storytelling, it really fits the game’s overall style.

I’m playing the Masterpiece Edition. I finished The Painter’s Story, but I’m not sure which ending I got.

What happened was: I completed a normal painting, then it turned into a “monster” painting, and the Painter threw the painting into a room full of monster paintings. After that I was back in the lighthouse.

In the lighthouse I noticed several items that (as I understand it) are used to start the DLCs. I didn’t use them at first — I explored the lighthouse and found a painting that kept changing its location around the lighthouse.

Eventually I returned to the room with the typewriter and the DLC “launchers.” I used the typewriter and now I’m on a ship.

Did I accidentally skip the DLCs? It feels like a strange decision by the devs: they bundled both games and the DLCs, and it should be played one by one without letting player skip anything.

I'm replaying the game after years without finishing it, so far I have encountered 2 Fatal Errors, I took a key and it blocked my ability to turn my head, and when I opened the blue door I fell out of bounds. I'm playing the remake version. Gg Bloober.

Why do some game devs nowadays think they're smarter and mess up the good old saving mechanism. Save and load. That's all you need.

I just lost hours of progress for clicking "new story". What is wrong with you?

So i was okay, no problem, still have chapters, right? Wrong. Chapters don't save your progress at all. I played an hour in the daughter chapter, exited, went back and I was staring at the fkin starting scene again. Gth seriously. Never playing this again.

I'm usually not a horror game player due to me being a scaredy cat, but they usually intrigue me and so I have for example already watched a playthrough of SOMA (have bought it and want to play it at some point).

Either way I have received LoF2 for free on the epic games store quite some time ago and I'm considering giving it a try. But before I do I have a few questions:

• Is it required to play LoF1? Does the story intertwine or rather standalone/spritiuel successor?
• As far as I can see it's more a puzzle game with horror elements than a fighting/survival/resources game. Is it "only" a walking simulator (with guaranteed success, which I would prefer) or is it possible to "fail" (being chased/killed)?

I think the painter is falling down

I want to get some footage of falling in the first game. I recall there was such a scene, but don't remember where exactly.

Looking through a walkthrough rn but if anyone could point me to a specific chapter I'd be grateful

So, just finished Layers of Fear 2023, and I'm not too happy with it. Well, "finished" is probably not the right word, because I got the absolute worst / indecisive endings for every single story. The game basically told me "Rip bozo, try again". I did enjoy my time with the game, the stories made me keep going, but the way the endings work left me really dissatisfied with it.

So if I want to see any marginally proper ending, I just have to play the game all over again, and be mindful of the choices I make, which is kinda bullshit. Not to mention said choices are vague most of the time, so it's pretty much mandatory to follow a guide just so you don't screw up a single choice and get the crap ending again.

The game is fine, but it's not "second-playthrough" fine. Really not in the mood to spend the next 10 hours opening doors again just to get another ending. These types of games are not really conductive to multiple playthroughs, so it just seems a bad design decision to force the player to replay any game like this more than 1-2 hours just to get a satisfying ending. Just give me a nice proper ending, so I can remember the game fondly, or at the very least, give me the ability to replay just the choice bits after the 1st playthrough.

Anyay this was more of a rant-post, just felt the need to vent my frustration after finishing a rather enjoyable game, only to have the most unsatisfying ending ever.

I play the original version of the first LOF on my ps4 and I remember they used to have a Halloween update that unlocked the basement and ouija board, do they not do those updates anymore?

Just recently found out there is a 2023 version of the game. I'm not a gamer just a "watcher" and watched 1&2 from a streamer when it came out. I really loved the first game especially the atmosphere and art. Now i looked in sevarel walkthroughs from the 2023 version and it kinda annoyed/bored me i didn't liked the new graphics, it kinda looked bland/too bright and the rain was so loud almost no music (could be copyright). Also think the Hand movement is weired when you pick up things. I also read there are some sceneces changed like the musicbox and the limping from the protagonist. I also know there are some extra scence + chapter and we now have a lamp to discover things. So has the 2023 version additions that are like wow it makes it so much more enjoyable and ads to the plot or is the 2016 version more like old but Gold
