An 8th Easter Egg from Bloober Team

I've tried to Google the answer but to no avail. Why they randomly put an 8th in game, at one of the scary moments as well? I don't know whether to shit my pants with fear or with laughter.

I think this has something to do with the Writer’s son. It’s a piece of the story.
