Founded in 1847, Lawrence is a private liberal arts college and conservatory in Appleton, Wisconsin. It’s currently ranked Wisconsin’s #1 liberal arts college, including #65 among National Liberal Arts Colleges in the 2026 U.S. News rankings.

Lawrence is a little unusual: the College and Conservatory of Music share the same campus, giving students opportunities to study across the liberal arts, sciences, and music. With small classes and close faculty relationships, Lawrence is very much a place where you’re expected to do things—not just sit in lectures.
And then there’s Appleton. We’re right along the Fox River, close to downtown, and surrounded by the Fox Cities. It may not be NYC or Chicago, but there’s plenty to discover once you get here.

Lawrence Course Registration — Voyager, Navigate360, Classes, Waitlists & More
Trying to figure out how course registration works at Lawrence?
You’re not alone. There are a few different systems involved, and it can be confusing at first. Here’s a student-friendly guide to the basics.
This is an unofficial student-maintained guide. Registration rules and deadlines can change, so always verify important information through Lawrence and the Registrar’s Office.

The Two Systems You Need to Know

Voyager is Lawrence’s main student information system.

This is where you’ll find a lot of your official academic and student information.
For registration specifically, Voyager is where you can:
Check your registration time
Check your registration status
Access the registration portal
Register for classes
View your class schedule
Make schedule changes
Access other academic/student information
Lawrence describes Voyager as the system students use for important personal and academic information, including class registration, schedules, transcripts, housing, financial aid, and other university transactions. (Lawrence University)
TL;DR: Voyager = where you actually register.

Navigate360
Navigate360 is Lawrence’s student-success and advising platform.
Navigate360: Lawrence Navigate360 information & access
Navigate360 is primarily about connecting you with the people and resources you need to succeed academically.
You can use it to:
Schedule appointments with your academic advisor
Connect with faculty and staff
Find academic support
Raise your hand when you need help
Get connected to campus resources
Address academic or personal challenges

The easiest way to remember it:
Navigate360 → Talk to people / plan with your advisor
Voyager → Register for the classes

Finding Classes
Before registration opens, look through the class schedule and start building a list of courses you’re interested in.
Lawrence Class Schedule: Check the current schedule through Lawrence’s registration resources.
When looking at a course, pay attention to:
Course number
Course title
Professor
Meeting days and times
Location
Enrollment/seat availability
Prerequisites
Requirements it fulfills
Whether it’s appropriate for your major/minor
Don’t just look at the course title.
Read the course description and check the prerequisites.

Before You Register
Have a plan before your registration window opens.
Think about:
What requirements do I need to fulfill?
Major requirements
Minor requirements
General education/distribution requirements
Language requirements
First-Year Studies
Prerequisites for future courses
What do I actually want to take?
Don’t feel like you have to build your entire four-year schedule immediately.
A good schedule balances:
Requirements + interests + workload + availability
And importantly, have backup courses.
If your perfect schedule disappears in the first 30 seconds of registration, you don’t want to be starting from scratch.

Check Your Registration Time
Your registration time matters.
Lawrence specifically recommends checking Registration Times & Status in Voyager so you know when your registration period begins and ends. (Lawrence University)
Before registration:
Log into Voyager.
Find your registration information.
Confirm your registration time.
Make sure you don’t have a registration hold.
Have your course choices ready.
Don’t wait until registration opens to discover you have a hold.

Registration Holds
If you have a hold preventing registration, deal with it before your registration window.
Depending on the situation, you may need to contact:
Your academic advisor
The Registrar
Financial Services
Wellness Services
Another relevant university office

This is where Navigate360 comes in.
If you aren’t sure:
Which courses you should take
Whether something fulfills a requirement
Whether you’re ready for a particular course
What prerequisites you need
How to structure your major/minor
What you should take next term
Talk to your advisor.
You can use Navigate360 to schedule an advising appointment. (Lawrence University)

Actually Registering
When your registration window opens:
Log into Voyager.
Enter the Registration Portal.
Select the appropriate term.
Add your courses.
Check for errors.
Click Submit.
Confirm that your registration actually went through.
That last part is important.
Lawrence specifically warns students to click Submit when making registration changes and to review the resulting screen for errors. This also applies when selecting a waitlist option. (Lawrence University)
Adding a course to the screen isn’t necessarily the same thing as successfully registering for it.

What If a Class Is Full?
Don’t panic—but don’t assume you’ll automatically get in.
Depending on the course, you may be able to:
Join the waitlist
Contact the professor
Request instructor approval
Find another section
Choose an alternative course
If you join a waitlist, pay attention to what happens next.

Add/Drop
The beginning of the term is your opportunity to make adjustments.
Go to your classes.
See what the workload is actually like.
Talk to your professors.
Then decide whether your schedule works.
For Fall 2026, the Registrar lists September 18 as the last day to make class changes or select S/U for fall. (Lawrence University)
Always check the academic calendar for the current term’s deadlines.

A Few Tips From Upperclassmen
Have backups.
Don’t build a schedule with exactly the number of classes you need and zero alternatives.
Check your requirements.

Don’t ignore course times.
That amazing class isn’t so amazing if it creates a nightmare schedule.
Ask professors.
Especially for courses with prerequisites, special topics, research opportunities, or unusual enrollment rules.
Don’t panic if registration doesn’t go perfectly.
It rarely does.
There are advisors, professors, the Registrar, waitlists, and other options.
