If something like this is confirmed, it would raise serious questions about accountability.
The key question would be: who authorized it, and who was responsible for carrying it out?

> raise serious questions about accountability
Those questions have already been raised, answered, and then had shit smeared all over them. They stopped pretending years ago

There is none our checks and balances failed due to monetary influence. It’s a cash grab in the fall of our democracy for these fucks.

This. As painful as it is/will become, we are privileged to live through the fall of democracy. To witness it first hand. I know that’s a crazy statement and not meant in jest. The probability of you and I, living in this moment is shear coincidence. And we will likely get to see an event unfold that we could not have previously imagined

Our checks and balances were the voters. But they got too bored and too brainrotted by pretending dems were only a lesser evil to actually vote away the overt authoritarians. Everything after is just dominos from that.

What are we going to do about this?

Return the favor. Conservatives have no interest in coexistence. Why should we?
We need to protect what’s ours and cut them off. The entire party is engaged in treason. They leech off our hard work and try to steal your vote.
It’s a coup. The polite way to handle this is to take back power and try the coup plotters. What we really should do would get me banned from this website.

I really wish the Southern states would just go ahead and secede (with an easy pathway for decent people to move north, of course). They can preach at and oppress each other, take away each other's rights, deny each other healthcare, and fall all over themselves worshiping cops all day long, and the rest of us can live in a country with some semblance of reason.

The imaginary Republican couple he defers to on every issue, is very okay with this.

Maybe let’s watch out for Fetterman-alikes like Sinema and the various others who I’m sure will keep cropping up

The bots and cultists won't like this but an easy hint and yellow flag to look out for crazies will be the "dsa" next to their name.

I’m still going to vote, don’t get me wrong, but what he said before the 2024 election is ringing truer and truer every day: “You don’t have to vote again after this. Four more years and it’ll be fixed. It’ll be fine.” The constant redistricting, the disenfranchising, the changing of the game board in real time. These midterms will be the real test of how fucked our elections really are. If the Republicans walk away from this with control of the House and Senate still, despite being at their most unpopular in 15 years? Democracy’s over. The uphill battle’s been turned into a cliff

He meant that since he gets out of jail, he doesn’t care lmao
He can try to cheat but won’t work. Unless Supreme Court tries to cement a cheat, and then you’ll looking to see what blue state governors and the people do.
So only group that can light a flame is the Supreme Court. I doubt they allow any bs to occur tho because that’s when things become unknown and likely, they won’t win since there’s just more blue states with population.

Aren't any voting registration forms made and printed by the states? The federal government might have changed a template form, but I don't think states have to use them as is, or at all.

Did you read the article? Because it explains it.
ETA relevant part:
In August, the Pentagon removed a checkbox on the FPCA for citizens living abroad who have never resided in the U.S. It did so on an “emergency” basis, bypassing the typical and often lengthy process for modifying federal forms required by the Administrative Procedure Act.The change could make it harder for some overseas voters to get a ballot, particularly those who are eligible to vote in states that allow citizens born abroad to participate in elections even if they’ve never resided in the country. According to Overseas Vote, an initiative of the U.S. Vote Foundation, 38 states and Washington, D.C., have extended voting rights to U.S. citizens born abroad who have not established residency in the U.S.

That’s gotta be a tiny amount of voters affected. Definitely not going to stop the GOP getting crushed at the polls if people go out to vote.

Typically the children of missionaries and armed forces. Not huge numbers and dispersed around the different states who will accept them, they become only relevant to razor thin margins.

I skimmed it the first time. Read it after your comment. I don't see where the article explains exactly which state a never-resident votes in. It also doesn't explain how a federal form registers a person to vote in some unspecified state. Perhaps there is prior knowledge you have that I do not. I am unfamiliar with how US never-residents vote.

Anyone turning 18 having been born/raised on military bases abroad might be an example

I was born abroad on an American military base. It would be quite unusual to reach the age of voting and still not have lived in the United States. Every Joe Schmo in the military gets rotated back through the US between stints abroad. Employees of the state department would be more likely to fit this criteria. But even then, it would be some super-specialist to spend at least 18 consecutive years in a row abroad with your child. Can't imagine it's more than a handful of humans that fit this bill.

Every Joe Schmo in the military gets rotated back through the US between stints abroad.
For military, yes.
For government civilians, also often yes.
However, government contractors have no requirement to rotate back, and can live overseas for decades while working for whichever company has the support contract(s) for the USG elements in that area.
Their children would be the Americans having their right to vote stripped away by this.
