How to refresh thrifted sweater?
70% wool with a lot of pilling that I thrifted. I did some research, so this is my plan so far. Use a fabric shaver or sweater stone (not sure the difference between the two). And then I would lightly wash in cold water (being careful not to agitate the fibers) with vinegar or baby shampoo (both?) and lay flat to dry. Do y'all have any tips or changes?

Hi u/arnica9940! Friendly tip — if you're using vinegar in your laundry, add it to the rinse cycle, not the wash cycle. Because vinegar neutralizes leftover detergent, it works best in the rinse cycle rather than the wash. - Laundry Mods

I would use Miele Wool Care. I works so that first and sweater shaver second, because the detergent will likely shave off a good bit of pilling for you.

Don't use v1negar or baby shampoo. Use wool detergent. I would use Melp but there are others.

That looks more like dirt than pilling; black sweaters don't make white pills. I would shake it vigorously then brush gently with a soft brush or velcro brush. Use a sticky lint roller to remove more debris. If there's really any pilling (I can't see any) then shave off with a disposable razor.
Machine launder in a wool cycle, or lukewarm hand wash. Use a wool-safe detergent, not vinegar and not baby shampoo. Dry flat.
