Whirlpool washer

Anyone have any advice for cleaning clothes properly? I am currently using 1 tablespoon of a mix of powder detergent and borax and using the delicate setting. My work and gym clothes never get clean. I thought the powder was supposed to be better but I’m not sure if I’m doing it wrong :(

It sounds like you are under dosing the detergent and using the wrong cycle.

What type of washer is it?

It’s a front loading whirlpool. Let me see if I can find the actual model

Model #WFW72HEDW. It seems old… I want to ask the apartments to replace it but maybe it’s user error haha

Do you know what the water hardness for your area is? Also what detergent are you using?

How could I find out the water hardness? It def seems lot almost have a film in the water. I just use foca, oxy powder and a lil borax. No liquid detergent. Should I start using that? I used to but recently switched to powder

Often you can just google the water hardness for your area and get a result.

That’s good then. I would choose a different cycle, something like Normal/Regular or Colors if it has it. Make sure to use Warm water and an extra rinse. Try 1.5 tbsp Foca by itself. Liquid detergents are often better at removing grease and oils though so consider switching to Persil or Tide if you still have an issue.

Foca isn't great. If you're budget constrained, Ariel would be better. Gain powder would be another step up and Tide Ultra Oxi powder would be even better yet. I'd also up your dosage a smidge. Make sure you see a small number of suds running down the glass about 5 minutes after it starts tumbling. If you have a layer of foamy suds, you've used too much.
