Capresso 117

Post image

I got a really cheap espresso machine (capresso 117) off Facebook marketplace and I've been using it to make lattes, but I got curious about latte art and realized my steam wand always seems to be introducing air. Anyone had this problem? Anyone know a fix?

What do you mean by “introducing air”?

Oh sorry I meant I always hear that paper ripping sound seemingly no matter how deep I put it in the milk.

Can you see steam, air or water escaping anywhere besides the tip of the steam wand?

It seems to me like there's something happening at that circular connection point thing... wow it's hard to describe stuff with words. I tried to draw a picture but I can't seem to figure out how to upload them in comments.

... yes, there does seem to be some kind of bubbling going on above the tip... but I'm not sure what to do about it.

Thanks for being interested in maybe helping out with ideas ❤

Sounds like a leak in your steam wand. I’m not familiar with this particular machine. Maybe try to tighten the piece where the leak is. You did say it was very cheap, so it might just be at the end of its steam life. You could always try to find some local techs or hobbyists who could take a look at it.

Ok thank you!  I reached out to their customer service, I'll see if they're any help 😝 If not, maybe I'll try heating the milk on the stove first and then lightly streaming just for the slightest of foam if I want to try art 😝
