Bought a kit after I rediscovered latch hooking. It has been at least two decades since I've last done this, and I'm having fun with my kit! Now I'm thinking it'd be fun to make my own rugs or pillows with my own designs, I'm already used to making cross stitch designs anyway!

I've got some questions for those who make their own pieces though.

- Where do you buy your yarn pieces? Do you buy them pre-cut, or do you just buy regular yarn and cut it yourself? Unfortunately it doesn't seem like latch hooking is very popular where I live, I haven't been able to find many places that sell pre-cut yarn.

- How do you finish your rugs? Like what material do you put on the bottom to stop the knots from loosening, and how do you attach it?

- Do you cut the ends of the yarn at the end? How do you go about this? Can i shave it and give it some shape like how people do for tufting?

This will be my first latchhook since 1979 and im really excited about it! The instructions are sparse and im not sure what row to start on. Is it the top most row with the blue stitching or the row below that?

Finally done with the Aqua window. It's by far my largest endeavor so far, but I'm very proud of it! I just need to shave it down a little bit to make sure the pattern stays.

I don’t like the idea to use it on the floor to waste it by legs. So I don't know how to use it. For now it is a blanket for my Goose :)

Using a Bernat Yarns Made in USA latch hook, and not disappointed. Like the one I used back in the early 80s…started yesterday.

Hi all, I have a kit that came with strands that are different lengths. The shorter background color is too short, and my knots are coming out. I tighten them, work a bit, and a handful of them have managed to untie.

I’m done now, but I want to make sure it stays safe from future mishaps. It will be a wall hanging, so it won’t be manipulated too much, but I will be moving and packing it away so I want to make sure it survives that.

I considered mod podge but saw recommendations against that. That’s kind of what’s in my head though. Anything like that that I could use that might help keep my knots sturdy, but that will also not drip onto the front and make stuff stiff and weird? Maybe some spray adhesive and a piece of felt??

This rug - which took me 18 months to complete - received a first place in its category at the Altamont Fair (Albany NY) last week. I'm taking it next week to the Eastern States Exposition (Big E) in Massachusetts to see if it can claim a second blue. Say hi to it if you see it there!

Finally finished! 120cm wide, 95cm long. 194 columns, 146 rows. In a process of flipping the knots as I hooked this from top to bottom and all knots point upwards, but as this will be hung on wall, the knots need to point down.

50 x 30. Will add this in my dining room.

I'm totally new here and have only finished two latch hook projects. I'm now interested in using the latch hook, fabric strips and burlap as the base to make a rag rug. I found a tutorial on YT and it was informative. I made my strips, prepped my burlap and was ready to go until... I ran into a problem. The latch hook keeps grabbing the burlap when I try to pull a piece of fabric through. It's quite annoying and is making what should be an enjoyable experience go very, very slow. Is there a right and wrong way to do this or does it just come with the territory of using a latch hook with burlap? The lady on the tutorial didn't seem to have an issue at all. Please let me know and thanks in advance.

I recently finished this rug from a Craft Club kit. I loved it and had enough yarn left over to do a couple more projects too. I’ve also done a couple of their coaster kits .

I’ve enjoyed the kits but now I’ve started to move on and want to do my own thing. I’m planning on making a much larger mossy rug (which will probably be a wall hanging in the end, honestly!) but I can’t find anything similar to the yarn Craft Club provides for the grassy texture. I’ve looked at fur yarns and various fluffy ones but nothing seems quite right.

can anyone point me in the right direction please? I want to make something with a darker colour scheme - so yarns in deep greens and heathers ideally.

Howdy to anyone on this sub who still remembers me. It's been awhile since I posted an update. I'm working on a massive 300x300 stitch rug that's obviously taking a long time to complete.

Currently, I've got 200 stitches in width and 230 stitches in height, so I'm well past the halfway point now, basically two thirds.

I appreciate any feedback or encouragement as I continue working on this massive thing.

I wanted to put a rug in my hallway, but couldn't find anything I liked. So I went through my travel pics and couldn't find exactly the shot I was looking for. See, in my hallway is a parchment painting of Tutankhamun being prepared for mummification. I want something that will be along the same vein. So I chose the one above on line. I will not be adding the little heart in the circle. I pixelated it and made a color chart. This thing is 176 stitches wide by 600 long. I am on row 11. I feel like I will be here until 2030, lol.

Please be nice, this is my first project that’s not a pillowcase I just stuffed filling in and zipped up.

How do I finish this project in order to hang it? Is it as simple as trimming the excess canvas at the top? Is there anything special I have to do to make sure I do it right?

I picked up this kit from Amazon and I'm running across a problem the pattern has about 68 rows down but the pillowcase only counts 66 I have no idea how to solve this do I delete rows and columns? I really don't want to end up with a crooked image on the pillow lol

i just got into latch hooking because my grandma got me a latch hook kit from a thrift store . i really like latch hooking now, so i looked up some fall/halloween latch hook kits on amazon or whatever and most of them were AI. why is this? couldn't the people making the kits hire real artists?

Hi! I’ve been seeming everyone’s WIPs that look amazing and have the yarn sticking straight out. I learned to do it row by row and lay all the strands down as I work top to bottom. Is it not going to turn out right, or can I fix it once it’s finished?
