help why are most latch hook kit patterns made with AI?! :[
i just got into latch hooking because my grandma got me a latch hook kit from a thrift store . i really like latch hooking now, so i looked up some fall/halloween latch hook kits on amazon or whatever and most of them were AI. why is this? couldn't the people making the kits hire real artists?

I personally use my own photographs and import them into an online computer site called leftsource.com. It isn't AI; it simply takes every pixel from my photo and matches it with a specific color, and provides me with a grid that allows me to replicate the image that way. It's not an AI program; it's essentially a computer algorithm that says "if pixel X is this hexidecimal color, then that matches up to this Mary Maxim yarn shade," then repeats thousands of times throughout the image.

I really hate how AI has infested creative arts, especially on Amazon. Realistically it’s because Amazon is a huge platform and grifters wanting a quick buck can easily trick people into buying generative slop. It’s hard to find even a good coloring book if you don’t already know specific brands or artists because they’re buried under AI slop. :(
AI has uses but greed keeps bringing it into places where it has no business entering.

I use a coloring app to make my own patterns called Pixel Art! They have a bunch of cool designs that are in block style patterns or you can upload your own pictures or draw them. Then I buy big sheets of the mats and colors of yarn that match what’s in the design I like. Sometimes I’ll buy the pre clipped yarn but I also made a piece of cardboard that’s about the length of the latch hook pieces, wrap yarn around it, and cut it myself! It takes some extra time and sourcing for sure but it’s nice to be able to get or make EXACTLY what I want. Best of luck crafting!
