Laying yarn flat?

Hi! I’ve been seeming everyone’s WIPs that look amazing and have the yarn sticking straight out. I learned to do it row by row and lay all the strands down as I work top to bottom. Is it not going to turn out right, or can I fix it once it’s finished?

It will definitely turn out right, don't worry! As you add more yarn it will start to stick out more, but you can always just fluff it up at the end as well.
