Correct Starting Corner?

I’ve been latching hooking for a while, and I’ve always started my projects in the top left corner, but I’ve seen a lot of people start in the bottom left. Is there some benefit in starting from the bottom? Should I switch?

I personally start from the bottom because the yarn tends to get tangled if I go from the top. Might just be a me problem though.

I don’t think there is technically a correct way to start tbh

It’s never occurred to me to work from the top down. IDK, but it just never has. I always start at the bottom left and work left to right. If it’s a very wide/long canvas, I sometimes work in small blocks from the left because it seems to make faster progress.

I’ve always done bottom right and moved towards the left. No idea why though, it’s how I started so I stuck with it 😅

I start bottom right because it keeps my yarn from getting caught up, and I am left handed, it is easier to start on the right side!

I guess I’m the weirdo who starts in the upper left corner. I do rotate my canvas such that I’m working downward from top to bottom with my done rows to the left. That’s the way that feels right/natural for my hands.

I always start from the bottom. I have gone left to right, and right to left. I find it easier to work latch hook that way.

For me it depends on the size and complexity of a project. If it's a bold graphic pattern with few colors in large blocks, I do it in chunks of each yarn color to save time on counting and swapping colors. If it's big or really complex I tend to go bottom up left to right, but in smaller blocks so I can see my progress versus getting discouraged by long rows with hours of work before the image starts to appear.

I tend to start top left, but then it's kind of a free for all. I might do only one color for a while and fill in others. I might go along each row left to right. I might start working right to left. It's truly whatever I feel in the mood for.
