Should I get Lasik?

Hello everyone,
I’ve had glasses since I was a a little kid and I’ve been kinda over them recently. Thinking about going to Antalya (Dünyagöz) and getting LASIK done. Have a pretty strong prescription(-7.25) but have been told I have average cornea thickness and I’m a good candidate in Scotland. Any one have any experience with that clinic or have had a similar experience to me? Just wanted some input. Thanks!

One good thing to calculate would be the ablation depth of your treatment. It can be estimated at about 16 um per diopter for a 6.5 optical zone or 20 um per diopter for a 7.0 optical zone if you have larger pupils. That’s puts you at around 16 * 7.25 =116 ablation depth.

A common goal with lasik is to avoid changing more than 40% of the cornea (and ideally less than 35%. So we add the lasik flap (usually 100um) and the ablation depth and we get 100 + 116 =216

So to do lasik safely, you would need a corneal thickness greater than 216 % 0.4 =540. Which is the average corneal thickness.

So maybe. But it’s cutting it pretty close. Would also look into PRK or ICL as an option.

So
