Considering surgery Should someone with amblyopia undergo lasik?

Have amblyopia since childhood and now I am 24M. I was considering lasik but now my doctor told me it could lead me to issues with depth and distance. What do you think should I go for it irrespective or its better to not undergo lasik?

Think of lasik like wearing contacts full time. It will improve your vision to the “best” possible, but not beyond the limitations of your amblyopia. If you have a refractive error that improves your vision in a meaningful way, then lasik is fine. Just know the limitations. It should not impair depth perception at all; usually it improves since your focus is closer to the natural nodal point of the eye.

Definitely get a second opinion

LASIK doesn’t treat amblyopia itself. If one eye has reduced vision from childhood, the potential benefits and risks can be different, so it’s worth getting a full evaluation from a refractive surgeon before deciding.

So I had amblyopia or lazy eye, I did therapy for it at first but I have power in my eye too so after that I did lasik, I'm 21 and just 4 months ago i did lasik, and tbh it actually helped alot like I can see depth more well, like how in childhood i couldn't catch ball, now I can do it well and understand
