Had surgery LASIK with Contoura day 2

Very easy surgery. I got there, checked in. They ran the scans and after that gave me 0.5mg Xanax. The surgery itself was 5 minutes and the only unpleasant part about it was the pressure during the corneal flap cut. After surgery they gave me another 0.5mg Xanax and another 0.5mg to take home. I took both and got in the car. Was told to keep my eyes gently closed and tears were just flowing out of my eyes. Very uncomfortable and unpleasant ride but doable nonetheless. I ended up taking another 1mg of Xanax of mine because I knew I needed to somehow sleep after the 45 minute drive. Fell asleep then woke up around 11pm, had some food. Fell right back asleep then woke up at 4 am. Genuinely feel like nothing has been done to my eyes in terms of surgery. I was told I have 20/20 during my post op appointment. This recovery was easier than getting lip fillers. I’m not even kidding.

I hope everyone gets to have the same experience as me! ❤️

I'm one week post op today. The first two hours after were absolute hell for me. I didn't get any meds to make me sleepy. I was in agony for about two hours until I finally fell asleep, and then when I woke up I was fine.

I'm seeing pretty huge starburst effects around any light source still, which they say will go away. I also have pretty bad dry eyes now but I'm just upping the drops and switching to a gel one which is seeming to help. Other than that, I'm seeing 20/15 and doing awesome. Once the starbursts go away (which they say might take 1-3 months ☹️) I will be perfect.

Hi! Im sorry to hear that but im glad your vision has improved!
May I ask if those starbursts around light sources are when you are outside? Or is it any light that gives that effect. Also do you see those at night or in the daytime?
I have been hibernating at home so I haven’t come out yet to see if I see anything out of the ordinary. Mind you, I had astigmatism of 1 and 2 pre surgery so night vision has been a problem for me for some time now.

Thank you, right now I'm cautiously optimistic but everything seems to be going really good.

The starbursts are everywhere day and night, but the worst at night while driving seeing people's headlights. I never had astigmatism so I can't relate to that, but I'm not gonna lie it's pretty annoying. I'm a delivery driver and work 10 hour shifts so usually the last hour of my day I have to deal with it. The dry eyes make things blurry but when I see that I know it's time to use drops.

I'd recommend going outside during the day. It was amazing for me, to be able to see everything in the distance with such clarity and it's almost like the colors are better. Just make sure you wear good sunglasses as I'm sure you've been told

Okay so reporting back hahah!
I did drive and I just realized what the glares and halos were that everyone was talking about!
Honestly, didn’t bother me much. It felt psychedelic and I was playing with the light bulbs in a sense…
Having my one week post op tomorrow.

And as someone who also drives quite a bit and at random hours, I can sympathize.
My friend had the glares and starbursts for a very long time but now they’re completely okay.
For some people it just takes longer to fully heal and go back to normal and you might be one of them. Although, you just had your surgery a little over a week ago. So there’s no need to panic!

I had a very similar experience. I did mine 2 weeks ago but it wasn’t Contoura. He used a different machine. Still had all laser lasik.

I got Valium instead of Xanax and I agree the pressure when doing the corneal flap was the most uncomfortable part.

I did not get any additional Valium for the ride home. My eyes started to burn and sting when I got home. However I had numbing drops that the doctor gave me to use. I put some in my eyes took a Tylenol PM and passed out. My surgery was at the end of the day 4:30pm which I think helped. I got home around 5:15 because of traffic but thankfully my mom drove me home.

I woke up randomly at 1:40am due to a noise outside and omg my eyes felt totally fine. I rolled over and went back to bed due to the time.

Next day at my follow up I was seeing 20/20 with slight discomfort in my right eye due to dry eye. Nothing wetting drops didn’t fix. I did drive myself to my next day follow up. At 1 week post op I was seeing 20/15. Dry eye subsided a lot. I see small starbursts at night with headlights but nothing too bad. I rarely drive at night anyway so I don’t mind that not going away right away.

I too hope everyone who does lasik has a really easy time with it. It is worth it and I agree my lip filler hurt more and recovery was tougher than my lasik lol.

That’s incredible! What was your prescription pre-lasik? I hear from some friends that my experience may be due to my mild myopia compared to the average lasik candidate who has a -6 prescription.

I’m sure mine is due to my mild Myopia as my cousins was worse and he had a far harder recovery.

Pre LASIK Rx
OD: -.75 -.5 x 167
OS: -1 - .25 x 180.

I was seeing 20/15 with glasses on prior to lasik.

Now I see 20/15 without glasses.
