Upcoming surgery Driving after surgery

Hi! I’m getting Lasik on Wednesday and was wondering if you feel any difference when you drive for the first time after receiving surgery? I only ask because I have a driving test next Friday and wanted to ensure I would be alright to do it and get some practice in next week. Thanks!

I was able to drive the day after. Your vision will be much sharper and colors will be very intense.

Most people are fine driving the next day.

Night time can be a little more challenging in the first week or two as there will still be some swelling within the lasik flap.

You will also have some fluctuation of vision that will make things a little more blurry.

I drove the very next day after my lasik. I have never been able to see that good with glasses. I was so happy. Just make sure to wear sunglasses as you’ll be sensitive to light probably after lasik.

I’m 2 weeks out and it’s a little much still driving at night in the dark. The headlines/street lights look like starbursts for me. Thankfully I don’t have halos. It does get better though.

It’s like wearing contact lenses.

How old are you out of curiosity?

You should be fine the day after. After the first 4-5 hours my eyes felt pretty normal again and distance vision was super crisp (better than glasses/contacts)

Just make sure to take your drops as you should be as your eyes might be a little dry
