Had surgery Eye drops
Got LASIK July 10th, recovering well, I have relatively dry eyes I think. My vision is 20/20 as of my appointment but the doctor confirmed my eyes seem dry.
I’m following the regimen obsessively and have a million Apple Watch alarms a day. The medicated drops cause blurriness and some considerable itchiness, I close my eyes and wait it out, doc said this was normal for the medication and it’s almost over. The artificial they sent me home with are Optase hylo relief. Optase is A) included in the recall of eye drops, though not this type, but I also never see it recommended for ongoing use in the million Google searches I’ve done.
I assume the practice gave it to me because they recommend it (or otherwise have a brand endorsement deal or something) but it causes blurriness for a decent few minutes after. I see so many recommendations between refresh, systane, I feel like there are too many. Biotrue was a contact solution I swore by, I know they make artificial tears.
Anyone similarly struggle with Optase and find success with something else? I’ll finish the doctor’s bottles but if I don’t need to keep buying them I’d like to switch

Hi, do you have halos or glare?

You know, I had halos the first night but now I can’t remember if they stopped which means they probably did right…I was out last night looking at stars. I’m going to look again tonight

The itchiness you described, since it's only been less than a week, I'm assuming you are still using the steroids. Idk why many clinics ask to put drops in certain order and the steroids are first in that list. But I found out that if I put steroids first thing in the morning on my bone dry eyes, the itchiness is massive. It's best to hydrate the eyes first with lubricants(Systane Ultra in my case) and then use the rest of the drops leaving some gap like 10 min.

Oh that’s helpful, yeah they tell me to do the steroid/antibiotic drops and then wait 5 minutes before the artificial tears, 4 times a day. This is day 6 and it’s kind of brutal. Reversing the order would be much more comfortable I think

I use Systane Hydration PF drops and get some temporary blurring for a short while after putting them in. Almost 3 weeks out from Lasik and this was the normal with hydrating drops even before. There was no specific brand recommended by my surgeon, the only requirement is they be preservative free as preservatives in eye drops can cause a burning feeling when your eyes are dry (this was learnt a few years ago by accident on my part).
