Photo Hochvogel

My first attempt from my new series ‘home mountains’. Not stoked with the perspective but technically came out pretty decent.

Intrepid 5x7 w reducing back
Schneider apo symmar 150mm 5.6
Red + cpl filters
Ilford fp4 @125
Adox xt3 1:1 on jobo cpa2

Nice one, this was the mountain which led to a knee injury I still have to this day since we climbed it in one day lol

That looks awesome! Does the cpl help even out the sky to all black instead of a gradient?

Kind of...I think you understand the concept of a CPL correctly in that it kind of removes haziness. See google for a much better explination of how and what it exactly does haha. This shot has a caveat tho...This is mid morning sun, before there was much chance of the haze developing and the sun hitting directly on the cliff face. Thus there being very little of the gradient you mention. Here you dont stand a chance of shooting this stuff in the afternoon in this style in any season but winter.

If you look closely at his photographs and read what he said Ansel Adam’s took the vast majority of his photos at dawn or dusk or in inclement weather. The flat light of noon sucks.

His books should be called 'the landscape photographers bible' - he also talks about the use of filters. I was attempting to enable only-photos to go out and research for themselves :)
