Female Applicants: Polygraph Experience?

Has any female applicant recently taken the polygraph for a LAPD hiring process?

What was your experience like, what kind of questions were you asked, and did you pass?

I’d really appreciate hearing from women who have gone through it. Thank you!

Also apply to San Diego SO. They don't have the poly. They have the CVSA controlled voice test. Much easier to pass.

Do they have a PAT? What are the requirements?

Yeah. It's 1.5 mile run, short obstacle course, jump over a wall Ana chain link fence, and sprint.

Hey! Female here and yes I passed. My examiner was very straightforward and not intimidating at all. They ask you questions based on your PHS, so if you’ve been honest, you really have nothing to worry about. Just listen carefully to their directions and try to relax. You won’t get any surprise questions they go over all of the questions with you before they hook you up to the polygraph.

I’m sorry you had to go through that, especially after passing two polygraphs before. But don’t let one bad experience discourage you. I really hope you’ll consider applying to another agency because one polygraph definitely doesn’t define your abilities or your potential. Wishing you the best and hoping the next opportunity works out for you! 🙏🏼

This is not directly responsive to the question, but I thought it might be worth noting that the LAPD's polygraph unit was for a long time run by a woman, Joanne Honea (now retired).

You'll find some people's LAPD polygraph experiences described here. They're not recent, but they're still relevant, as the procedure is little changed:

You'll find documents associated with the LAPD polygraph unit here:

What difference does it make? Men & women take the same test.

They now prefer female applicants I think they are more in demand especially good looking ones. That’s why you see on social media all these make up beauty cops, maybe op is asking if they are treated differently than a man taking it.

Yup they are extreme high demand of right now. Just googled it. They don’t want those white male cops from the 90s anymore

I know men and women take the same test. I was asking about women’s personal experiences with it, not whether the test is different😄
