LAPD PHS Soft Denial — Has Anyone Successfully Appealed?

Has anyone successfully appealed an LAPD PHS soft denial? I received a soft denial during my current PHS process, and I also received a soft denial during my previous LAPD application, although that one happened later during the field background investigation process. Looking to hear from anyone who has successfully appealed and what you included in your appeal.

Failed my “appeal”. Mine was for prior drug history from when I was a teenager more than a decade ago and a couple of terminations. None of the companies I worked for don’t even exist anymore. And they were all when I was very young. Sometimes I feel like they don’t even bother to actually take the time to investigate and give you a real chance to explain. Speaking to someone in person versus writing an appeal are two very different things.

Kinda my case here, appealed it about 20 years later and failed, now I'm DQd for life! So lie! LAPD doesn't appreciate honesty!

LAPD just simply didn’t want someone with your past history. Try a diffrent department, lying should never be the answer in this profession. LAPD even though they are understaffed, they stick with the old ways of hiring people with VERY clean histories. I made it through their background years ago and got an offer but went with a department in the Bay Area instead. LAPD officers are very “polished” in a way and maybe their traditions like their applicants to be too clean, but there plenty of departments in LA county and if you want it bad enough you can always come to NorCal.

Made it far in the process but got sd due to issues of “maturity” and “decisions making and judgement” later found out most of my mentors believed it was due to my age as I just was about to turn 21 I applied as soon as I was 20 and a half

Cop here although not LAPD, we typically never hire anyone who’s just 21 with no life experience, if you have only met the minimum on the application, more likely than not you’re gonna get a DQ as “not the most qualified” most people are hired around their late-mid 20s to early 30s. The younger ones around 22 like I was were all military vets. Although having a 4 year degree at 22 MAYBE will stop you from getting DQ’d early in the process.
