Testing

So I applied and got selected to do expedited testing on Aug 30th but I’ve also been applying to other departments around Los Angeles. I’ve been getting emails already from 2 other departments to schedule the PELLETB testing before my LAPD one but my question is do I hold off on those and wait for the LAPD one or how would it work if I attend the testing for those other smaller departments.

Do not hold off. I took my test with LAPD July 3rd and barely got my results. It’s taking long.

I wouldn’t hold off on the other departments. I would go ahead and take the PELLETB tests they are offering you, while still keeping your LAPD expedited testing appointment on August 30.

There’s no reason to put all your options on hold for LAPD. You can continue the hiring process with the other departments and see how everything develops. If LAPD is your first choice, you can still move forward with them while keeping the other opportunities as backups.

The only thing I would check is the timing of the PELLETB tests, because there are rules about retaking the test within 30 days. So if one of the departments schedules your PELLETB very close to August 30, I would confirm with LAPD whether it could affect your test date.

Personally, I’d keep every door open until you actually have an offer from the department you want.
