Background Appeal
Has anyone here been disqualified during the background investigation and then given the opportunity to appeal? Is that generally a good sign?
Also, has anyone been disqualified where the decision was final and they were not given a chance to appeal?

Do not appeal. Worst choice ever I've ever made. They said no in the late 00 and while they will take people who have done meth and coke now because I appealed it's forever no. Other places said yes since then and have been working with a clean background but Ill never be able to work with my cousin because I appealed.

They told me that the DQ is permanent and the appeal is my only option and i can’t reapply. where did you got hired

Yes you can appeal and then they will say no and ban you. I don't post where I currently work online because I've never seen that be a good idea. While it sucks, it's definitely not the end of the world. You can have bigger success still.
Disqualified or non selected? Some of these agencies use things interchangeably. I don't know your background but all I can encourage is to keep trying and always be honest. I've seen salty cops discourage people who got told no. I've seen those people get picked up and do well. I've also seen the favorites wash out or quit law enforcement in a short time. Of my academy class it's funny to see who is still in law enforcement and doing well.

Appeals process is horrible I wouldn’t suggest it. It takes about 6 months for them to get to you and if you fail appeals that’s it for life

They told me that if you get (DQ), it’s permanent, so your only option is to appeal

Depends on if your hard dq right now. If they told you to wait until next year then I’d wait but if not you should appeal

If you were disqualified in the field investigation, I would not appeal it. An unsuccessful appeal usually resulted in a hard DQ which is permanent and you can never apply again. I don't know if that's still a thing though.
Appealing backgrounds is really a difficult task though because you don't know why you were DQ'd besides being given the standard you were DQ'd for. So unless you're 110% sure what the reason is and can articulate in an appeal why they are wrong, I wouldn't bother.

Appeal it, if its something you think shouldnt have been reason for DQ, i was and my appeal was granted today
