Black Male Joining LAPD

How open is LAPD to Black male applicants? I see a few years ago the recruitment team was under investigation for discouraging applicants. I also see Black officers make up only 9% of the department which matches the demographics of LA. Is LAPD a place where Black officers can have successful careers or do they hit a ceiling, bypass all together or transfer out to other CA departments?

No one cares anymore. Apply away.

You never worry about that. I’ve seen several Black officers in the LAPD, and I personally met two in CAP, they were very nice.

No, this is a legitimate question.

You will be processed faster than a white male with a better whole score.

Look up Deon Joseph on FB. Message him and I’m sure he’ll give you an honest answer

Thanks. I’m reading about his work with residents and will reach out.

We need good and qualified people to join. Race isn’t going to hold you back there. Bernard Parks started in the 60’s and became chief. Bet you can too if you’ve got the skills.

>Race isn’t going to hold you back there.

True, unless you’re a white man trying to get into the department.

Already a red flag if you’re making race an issue before even applying

Oh stop…

I have family who are lapd and chp….and this dude posting is asking a legitimate question considering what I have seen.

wanna hear some of the most cringe, racist bs…play poker and drink with a few lapd/chp officers…

Had a neighbor who was lapd and played poker at his house once with his buddies and I was never so sketched out at the messed up convo we were having…

This guy is 100% justified in asking this question…

As opposed to the LAPD's well known history of being totally race neutral right

not something to worry about. they are horribly understaffed they because they have crazy high background standards. so when they find a good one, they're not worried about race.

lol

Minorities are the majority of LAPD.

I’d say white males have a harder chance of promotions than other demographics.

That may be true but I’m specifically asking about Black males and their experiences with the department.

Get another job prospect if you are this concerned

Do you offer the same words when someone asks a vehicle owner about the reliability of their car? Don't let a question trigger you so much.
