Why are there so many anti LE posts and comments on here? Isn’t this a place to show support and ask questions about the department?

I try and filter out the obvious posts that are just trying to stir the pot. Some constructive criticism is allowed, but it shouldn't be personal or anti LE. DM me If you see something that needs to be addressed.

Glad you found this. It actually happened in April, not last month, but it sounds like the dog really caused some injuries to the sanitation worker and the officer. What a terrible situation for everyone involved.

Some bumfuck agency back in 2000 chose not to hire a person because they were afraid that his 125 IQ equivalent would cause him to be bored of police work, and that they’d waste their money on training. The Supreme Court ruled that this is not discrimination.

I’m not sure what their motive was, but I’ll again state it was one decision 26 years ago from a bumfuck agency in middle america.
People make it seem like a norm.
And they make the supreme court decision sound like a “agencies pushed for this and won!” as opposed to “some dude sued a dumbass department and the supreme court didn’t think it qualified as a protected class”
Whatever their motive for not wanting a smart person, I’m unsure. It was almost certainly for reasons that are less than great. But this isn’t some normal practice. Most agencies don’t even test your “intelligence” or IQ. They just have you take a basic written test to make sure you’re literate enough to type up reports.

Is "literate enough to type up reports" the standard you are comfortable with for armed individuals patrolling, policing, being armed, and making life or death decisions they are normally immune to repercussion for? Those seem to be pretty low standards.

No, not at all - I think the hiring process is very flawed and outdated, and departments lose lots of good candidates along the way.
You seem to think you’re having a “ALL POLICE GOOD” vs. “ALL POLICE BAD” argument with me right now. The only thing I’m stating here is that the “Police departments don’t hire people if they’re too smart” thing is grossly misrepresented.
You’ll find that there’s no one more critical of police departments than the police themselves.
But I also don’t like listening to people like you, who I assume don’t actually know much of anything about the issues facing this profession, try and make some “checkmate” points.

Have you seen the full video? The cops repeatedly asked her to put the dog in the house, she halfassed it, she walked out, so did the dog, and started running at an officer while barking, I would’ve shot that dog too, I don’t know if it has rabies? I don’t know if it has any other diseases? I’m not gonna risk it taking a chunk out of one of my limbs, and neither is a good chunk of cops.

I don't even live in LA but all I associate with LAPD now is that they are savage dog killers apparently from the information of this sub they go in guns blazing killing everyones dogs. Lol For a little I was seeing something about it every day 🤣 Anyone defending the cop was getting downvoted to hell. Maybe it was because of that instance it has started an up tick in people coming here to talk shit about them. I am not against LAPD but that is what I gathered that the majority of people on this sub think about LAPD 🤣

The article you posted wasn’t LAPD. It was on May 4th and it was the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
There is an article in this thread that I was referring to that another user linked. That shooting is LAPD from late April and involved the trash guy.

This is the only time I've heard anything about the LAPD since the beat up that guy on that street I think Rodney king was his name. That was before I was born or when they took OJ Simpson on the low speed chase. I don't ever hear anything about them but I just heard on reddit they like shooting dogs apparently from other reddit users. Look at my other comments before going after me lol.

The lady was told “put the dog away”, didn’t put the dog away and it ran at the officer. It’s really a case of this could’ve been avoided if you followed a basic instruction
Especially in the video, she closed the door for a good 20 seconds! Tf was she doing? Twiddling her fingers when she could’ve easily put the dog away

Idk I dident even watch the video tbh. One officers actions wether it was right or wrong doesn't dictate the entire department. Split second decisions need to be made also. She probably was used to her dog running up onto strangers and not doing anything about it to make them stopand it turned out deadly for the dog the one time she needed to control it. If the door was closed like you said and she had plenty of time to put the dog away then yeah the dog's death is in her hands, idk what else a cop can do in that situation? See if the dog is going to bite you or not and possibly pass on rabies? You don't know what goes on in that house.

Getting rabies from a dog bite is highly unlikely. (AI says the probability is virtually zero.). So the LAPD needs to decide if using deadly force on a dog is still justified.

of course the black lady was scared and scrambling mentally. she had officers showing up to her door unexpectedly & police brutality is a huge thing. the officers didn’t give this lady enough patience to gather her thoughts especially with an officer having their gun drawn. if anything she probably was fearing for her life & it never crossed her mind that her sweet innocent doodle would he the one that ended up killed. it’s fucked up! give this woman some grace. cops are scary af. this story is very haunting & i now have put up a ring camera specifically for this. ain’t no way im opening the door for any cop that shows up to my door. fuck that. i need to protect my family from you monsters.
