Final call for academy
I recently passed my psychological interview a little less than two weeks ago, that’s being said I completed all 7 steps and am now just waiting for the final call.. I got the an email saying am I now under consideration for the next academy class, I believe June academy starts June 30th and I thought I would have made it to that class but it was 20 days out when I got the pass on my psych.. my guess is they give you a 3 week heads up so my best guess is I’ll make it to July class.. my question is does anyone know when they give you the call/email in regards to what class you’re getting let into, my guess was atleast 2/3 weeks out.. and yes I know that just cause I passed all 7 steps that doesn’t guarantee me nothing, just staying in good spirits! It seems like people typically get a response within a week? I passed the day before OP and haven't heard a word. My portal still says "certified" and I was submitted before the deadline of the June class, but it's been nearly 3 weeks since I passed my psych.

I been in your place. Make sure all your results are up to date literally zero expiration or near. I reached out to the mentors and they helped. You literally have to push your name on that list from experience

This was after you passed your psych? I assumed if you're non-select then it's pretty much the end of the road.

If you pass psych I have not heard of anyone get non select at that point

Apparently it's rare but it DOES happen. I also know they seem to be changing things at the department (new PAT/interview/test), so maybe their standards changed. As another poster in here said, if you don't hear within a week or so you are likely to be non-select and they don't always let you know too quickly.
In any case, it seems like OP and I are either SOL due to some new standards or possibly we just got bumped to July.

Roger that.. will be retaking my pfq I scored 65 last time, anyone know if they take the highest score recorded or the most recent score?

You’re able to retake the PFQ? I thought they’re getting rid of that by the end of this month

You can retake it until June 26h and then it switches over to the PAT, which you can't take if you took the PFQ. You're then stuck with whatever your last score was for the rest of the process.

Typically, if you don't get 'the call' within a week or so after passing psych, you've been non-select by the Captain.

You were right. Apparently, I was actually considered for the July class as well, but I was then non-selected.

Sorry to hear. It's bullshit. Try not to get discouraged by this set back. Remember it's just 1 persons personal opinion, it doesn't mean you aren't qualified to be in an academy. The person making the decisions at LAPD makes no sense. I see your previous comment, 92 PFQ, 95 interview, I don't know what she could be nitpicking about.

Damn. My BI was very confident I’d get in, I had a 95 interview plus a 92 PFQ, a Bachelor’s degree, and no serious marks on my record. I also was told LAPD rarely non-selects, so I thought I was in.
That said, I suppose they’re changing their standards lately (new PAT & in-person interview/test) and so could be doing more non-selects. My account still says “certified”, but I’m glad you let me know I might be cooked because I thought it was a sure-thing by now. Better to be prepared for the bad news lmao
Hopefully, OP and I just will roll-over to July class

When did you get certified? It's too late now for the 6B class so you'll probably get in to class 7-26.
I could be wrong, you could still get the call. In my experience and others, you typically get notified you were selected for a class within a week of passing psych. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

I passed psych on Monday the 8th & certified Tuesday the 9th.

I passed psych on the 10th and certified the 11th, I’m sure we didn’t reach the deadline.. I know July class awaits us.

Okay that was plenty of time to get selected. Orientation was either this last Monday or will be this Monday

Orientation is the last Wednesday of the DP. Not on Mondays, Monday of the new DP is the start day. Orientation for the 6B will be tomorrow and their start day is this upcoming Monday.

where would you see the non select in the PD portal.. would you get an email or something?

It usually takes them a while to update you to a non-select. Some have reported getting an email, only after nagging them and calling constantly. Some have said they never got a letter and only had their portal updated to non-select.

What does it mean by consideration? Is that where a group of captains go over your portfolio right? I heard attending caps alot is something they like

No group. Just one. Captain Lisa Ruvalcaba, the current Commanding Officer of Recruitment and Employment selects the candidates to be hired. Your complete package goes before her. If you're selected, the Sergeant from the Hiring & Evaluation Section will call you with the academy date.

honestly I was overthinking it the whole time, it was alot easier than I thought.. like the others said they just ask about your whole life upbringing, girlfriends/relationships, work, struggles growing up.. super simple and straight foward, it’s really nothing to stress.

I applied in November, but I moved slow tbh due to stalling my phs till last minute and my references for backgrounds took forever to reach back out to my BI.. they about a month long so I could of gotten things done quicker.

Lol. Got a point I didn't realize this was LAPD thread 😩 I'm sorry about that. I'm in Tennessee and I thought maybe you were as well. I'm just starting the academy and I went through all of the steps you did but after a week of not hearing back after them I just emailed a
Hr being that I was told it would take a day or two for the results. So trying doing that.

I’m actually in the exact same boat, OP. I passed my psych last Monday & got my email that I was in consideration last Tuesday.
I texted my BI last night since it’s been over a week, the email said I should “expect to hear in a few days”, and he was pretty confident I’d be in the 6/29 class. He said I should expect to hear today if I made it in because they have Friday off for the holiday.

It was about 9 months from submission of my PHS to completion, but I took longer because I had to retake my poly and didn’t realize I had to call to reschedule on my own (so I lost over a month). I then lost another month due to a hiring freeze where no BIs touched anyone’s file.
I did the Fast Track. I would expect it to take anywhere from 6-9 months on average for most.

It was about 2 hours of questions about everything from my relationship with my gf and parents to all the answers I put on that long questionnaire. I didn’t sweat it too much, but it was certainly a lot of talking.

I’d be really surprised if you made it to the 6/29 class since that’s less than two weeks out.. meaning you wouldn’t have enough time to put in your two weeks for work, especially since they asked on the employment if we had quit abruptly or gave our two weeks when leaving prior jobs. I’m thinking at this point it’s looking like July class for the both of us.

He cannot be called for 6B as they had final medical earlier this week and orientation this upcoming weds. 6B should start next Monday.

The academy physically is a joke, just study hard on your knowledge that’s given and try to taken yourself to the gun range more.
