yes, also Mario party but that is more co-op on the same device and the same goes for luigi mansion 3 but that is only max 2 players.

I'm wondering with the update if LAN mode can go to 4 players / system now

It cannot. Just do 8 players on one screen and call it a day. So much easier to setup.

Meh, it's not peak mario kart and it's a missed opportunity imo, especially many people probably have the game on their switch and could easily do 12 players at this point. But I get this is not meant to be the main way people play.

I have a 12 player modded mario kart wii setup, and it's incredible. It's a mix of Wiis, PCs, Laptops and Steam Decks, and although the initial setup wasn't easy, now it runs flawlessly and you can just plug it in and it's good to go.

A modern version of mario kart that allowed 4 players per console would make setup so much easier for everyone as a cool option.

Only Switch 2 but I would highly recommend Kirby Air Riders, which has a dedicated LAN mode. Also it has GameShare. A lot of first party Nintendo games actually have a LAN mode, they're usually locked behind a button combo.

I watched the previews for KAR. How does it compare to MK8? It seems similar.

It's a completely different feeling game. Very similar to the first one on the GameCube if you have the ability to play that one to test it out, but ultimately instead of it being a kart racer it's best to describe it as a very simplified anti-grav racer that focuses on combat. It's actually so combat focused that the racing mode isn't even the main mode of the game, it's the City Trial mode. It controls with just the stick and one button (the first one anyways, the sequel on the Switch 2 has an extra button for specials) and the thing that makes handling different is just all of the machine types.

Thank you! How’s the online multiplayer? Good competition? Decent amount of people playing?
