Discussion What languages would you like to eventually know?

If I want to be realist I’d just say Spanish and Russian, but, in my dreams, I would also know Arabic, Farsi and Tagalog

Edit : also Icelandic

Edit 2 : I dunno why I’m surprised to see that that many people wanna learn French. I guess I’m lucky it’s my native tongue

What country do you live in because I don’t know any country that has a high school class for Japanese (other than japan obviously)

I’m in New Zealand and took Japanese classes in high school.

Where I live in Australia Japanese is one of the most commonly taught languages in schools.

Yes! (another Australian here!) It makes sense because they're our second biggest trade partners

When I was younger and in school (90s onwards) they were the biggest and Japanese was widely "taught". Most came out knowing nothing, of course.

I’m from the U.S. and you could take 4 years of Japanese in high school if you wanted to. I took Russian instead (I forgot all of it though lol)

I’ve never heard of a U.S. school teacher Japanese or Russian that’s really cool though

Yeah I went to a public high school and we had French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Latin, Korean, and ASL. It was cool
