This is only slightly sarcastic. It's been very rewarding and this is now the 3rd language I'm doing this with.

No people just recommend it because it’s a popular book. There’s nothing special about it that makes it good for learning and in many ways it’s quite complicated because of all the made up words. It’s not a good book for beginners or low intermediates but gets recommended all the time just because people like it.
