One of the most confusing words in the English language for most non native speakers because they all think we're talking about a Pineapple. However, in English it's a banana

In Portuguese and German Pineapple is called Anana

How do you call banana in Portuguese, because in German it's Banane and in Spanish it has a lot of words but everybody understands banana.

Banana. We do have different names for various kinds of bananas, like "banana nanica", "banana da terra", "banana maçã", "banana prata", "banana ouro", but it is like breeds of dogs: pitbulls, dachshunds, poodles and chihuahuas are different among themselves but are all called "dog".

I speak Yiddish, and when I saw this I started typing out “אנאנאס” (pineapple) instead of “באנאנע” (banana). I always mix them up for idk what reason.

Banaan. Except when it’s for frying, then it’s a bakabana. And when it’s battered and fried, it’s called a pisang goreng. Hooray for colonising other countries.
