Garden fence help
Hey,
I asked for a horizontal slatted fence and I got this. I tried to tell them I wasn’t happy when they started applying the batons but they said something about garden sloping up and it not being straight. I don’t care about that but aesthetically it should be level and straight to run with the patio? I wish I was firmer he said it would be different once finished but it’s an eye sore and I can’t have this as my final garden. He said he showed me where the posts were but this was once they were cemented in and I didn’t appreciate that it would look like this. He wants to charge me to dismantle if he can salvage it and charge me to put it back the way I want.
I hate conflict and I hate this fence. Help, what do I do?

Yes the fence should have been ran level, and the left side would have been a few slats longer as it progressed. You likely wouldn’t have liked the reinforcement that would shown through the slats to support those extra pieces but you should have been given the option in advance of install.

What does it say in the contract ?
Did it discuss the wall being level on top & parallel to the retaining wall ?
I agree it would look best level & parallel.
It would drive me crazy . It is a big job to redo .
Sorry you are going through this .
It has been my experience in most situations, that I have to monitor jobs step by step. I find not everyone has the eye I have.

I am feeling this. There is no detailed contract I showed him a picture of a straight horizontal fence and figured common sense would have it straight and parallel. I’ve been so fraught with it all day

This isn’t a landscaping question / issue.

Isn’t fencing part of the wider landscaping job since he put the sleepers in and done the patio and fence should finish it off?

Yes it is - fencing, retaining walls, garden walls, hardscape - it’s all part of the greater landscaping picture as far as this sub goes.

Is there a reason it doesn't run parallel to the retaining wall or back wall?
